Do Not Allow Them To Divert Attention To Post War Planning
Edited on Sun Jun-12-05 08:45 AM by ThomWV
Its just bullshit. Do not allow the response to the DSM to be directed to lack of planning for post-war occupation. The point of the Minutes is not after-war lack of planning. It is the disclosure of the President's activities with a foreign Government, telling them the truth while concurrently lieing to the American People.

He started a war based on a lies told to the Congress of the United states although at earlier dates he was telling the truth to a foreign power on the same subject. It is immaterial that the foreign power is currently an ally of the US. Any President who will confide in other countrys but lie about the same subject to the people and their Representatives has no place in our Government and should be immediately removed from office.

The very moment you hear any defense against the DSM interupt and move the point back to the lieing, forget about the post-war planning. Stop the converstation if it moves off subject.

Remember, there are two documents. The July 21st document speaks to Post War planning, it is the July 23 Minutes that disclose the dishonesty with the American People. Do not let them dwell on the former to the exclusion of the latter.

2. I sent an E-mail to the Ombudsman at the Washington Post
I included the headline of the Sunday Times story: "Ministers Were Told of Need for Gulf War Excuse."

I also sent in a question to meet the press. The press should hear about how this relates to John Bolton firing the head of a UN arms control agency.

The net lefties must have some power because the media tried to ignore the Downing Street memo completely. E-mails make a difference, and more of them are needed. I'll continue to write.

3. Thanks....I agree and think Pincus's article in WaPo Today tries to do
just that. It's letting Blair off the hook because he has to answer to the International Courts and Bush doesn't.

4. Well I think they should both be mentioned...
Not only did they criminally lie to get us into the war, but they were also criminally negligent in preparing the troops for the very war they worked so hard to start. So important was the drive to "fix" the intelligence, and rush to war, that they failed to forsee what many people warned about. Too few troops, armed for a short conventional war, stuck in a protracted engagement, with a unconventional, homegrown force. Hell, when the chimp started the war, 1/5 of the invasion force, and the most mechanized units, were sitting on boats, off the coast of Turkey.
Certainly the issue of "fixing intelligence" should be hammered home, but even those Americans, that still somehow find comfort in the so-called moral reasons to get rid of saddamn, can find little solace in the disastrous way that these fools prepared for the post-war situation. And that should certainly be hammered at too.

5. I agree, that seems to be the intent if one looks at the
US headlines on the leaked documents. Both documents show that bush and Blair made the decision to invade Iraq in March/2002, BEFORE they went to the UN to try and get 'cover' for the invasion, they hid the fact that regime change was the reason because invading a sovereign country for regime change is ILLEGAL in international law.

They lied to their citizens and perpetrated an illegal invasion and occupation of a sovereign country, that is the real issue, imo.
