2. Legally a no-man's land
Can't serve a habeus corpus on a closed military base. No ICRC inspections, no Amnesty International inspections.
Can't see what's happeining? Then you can't prove ANYTHING's happening.

3. Shows a lack of faith in the American Worker.
Gosh darn it. American workers can torture just as well as anyone else in the world, if we'd just give them the chance!

(Please, oh, PLEASE realize I'm joking about this!)

4. GITMO is a special place
that is neither US terrigtory where those people would automatically receive the protections of the US Constitutioon as enemy combatants, or... of the Geneva Convention as POWS... they don't want neither.

In the US they woudl have a right to a lawyer you see... so said the USSC.

5. Hitler's worst camps were not in Germany, but Austria, Poland
and Czechoslavakia. Occupied nationals like the Polish couldn't complain to the authorities about the smell of flesh cooking in the ovens in the camp. In Germany it would have been a different story if Germans complained. Hitler still had to maintain the appearance of a Republic to the German people.

So I think this is why we don't have camps here yet.
