so if they started up the draft, what do you think the public would do? |
|
Follow like sheeps giving the government their children to do with as they wish, or protest and refuse to go?

3. Protests all over the place |

The older people would say "Been there, done that". and it's obvious the younger people won't stand for it.

4. They will withdraw to the 14 military bases first |
|
Or withdraw entirely. A draft now would be the death kick to the gop 'nads.

Protest from all sides of the political spectrum. The draft is dead. The outrage it would incur makes it impossible to bring back. We had enough trouble with Vietnam, and all that tragedy is burned into our minds when we hear the word "draft"

8. I sure hope you're right.... |
|
And by the way, Grandparents won't stand for it either! I was willing to go to Canada to keep my son out of Vietnam, had that war gone long enough for him to be drafted, and now, I'll drive my Grandson to Canada if I have to.

6. I don't think Parents or Young people would stand for it |

Especially the hard nose republicans who supported this war.

10. We would have massive resistance, ... |
|
maybe millions in the streets protesting. That's the reason the GOP dare not do it -- unless they can trick spineless Democrats into fronting for it.

12. I wish that Charlie Rangel, |
|
who proposed the draft be started up, to draw the attention of the people of the country to the reality of war, would now write a bill to abolish the selective service system. It now being a non-functioning agency, due to the "all-volunteer" military, it should be abolished. Make the Repugs defend keeping it in place.
