Which Senators refused to co-sponsor S.Res. 39?
Aravosis at Americablog is up for it.

Some US Senators refused to support S.Res. 39: Official Title: "A resolution apologizing to the victims of lynching and the descendants of those victims for the failure of the Senate to enact anti-lynching legislation."

Who are they? It's issue time!

I think we have ourselves a ready-to-go campaign for Tuesday. Call the Senate and find out if your two Senators cosponsored...

3. Here's the sponsor list...
http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/bdquery/z?d109:SE00039:@@@P

From Gooper-Dixie, I see sponsorships by Vitter, Demint, Graham, Allen, Frist, Alexander, Burr, Coburn, Talent. Dems Byrd, Landrieu (sponsor), Pryor, Nelson and Lincoln also on board from the old confederacy. Lugar and Bayh are both in from Indiana.

Missing in action from prime lynching states:

Warner-VA, Dole-NC, Both Senators from GA, AL, MS, TX, KY, Martinez-FL, Inhofe-OK, Bond-MO. Rockefeller isn't on as co-sponsor; maybe someone from WV can contact his office.

5. Warmer!
I also found this DU thread:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=104x3852205

They give the list in there as well.

So...60 + 40 = 100 / 2 = 20 Senators that haven't declared either way?

Well, it's time for me to send emails to my two - Hutchinson and Cornyn - and ask them why their names aren't on the list of co-sponsors.

I love their form letters.

<sarcasm>

6. Steal this letter
I sent an email to Kay Bailey Hutchisen. I found her here:

http://www.senate.gov/general/contact_information/senators_cfm.cfm

You are all welcome to copy my letter to your own, respective Senators that aren't on the co-sponsor list:

I looked at the list of Senators that are co-sponsors of:

S.RES.39
Title: A resolution apologizing to the victims of lynching and the descendants of those victims for the failure of the Senate to enact anti-lynching legislation.

I noticed your name was missing. Why is that? How can you not support apologizing for the horrendous inaction by your legislative body regarding the murder of innocent citizens?

Are you too busy to co-sponsor? Is this just not important enough for your time? Do you believe an apology is uneccessary?

I look forward to your form letter.

Sincerely,

You can leave out that list bit about the form letter. That's an inside joke between me and old Kay. ;)
