4. Insurance company whore |
|
In 1990 it was exposed by here Rublican opponent that he received the sum of PAC money from the Big three, Hancock, Prudential and Fidelity and attempted to pass legislation unfavorable to consumers as a senator. Harvard has great HMO program but John Kerry wishes he had gone there now (Impale Yale!!!!). Know anything about the BAnk of Boston and the money laundering that Kerry covered up, then did it for Fleet and is now doing it for Bank of America.

Are you are spin the truth and help the republicans whore?
Because by posting this ludicrous crap you are helping them!
FYI, Kerry exposed one of the biggest government money laundering schemes in history - BCCI and then you have the audacity to accuse him of it.
Wow! This thread needs to be locked. Another example of Kerry bashing for the sake of Kerry bashing.

Many insurance companies are located in the Bay State. No big surprise for them to support a Senator who is relected by wide margins every time.

Born in Somerville Masachusetts, grew up in Everett, and educated by Nuns in Boston. Both my state senator and state representative were prisiding officers in the General Court at different times. Worked for Ed Markey in 1984, and voted Republican in every general election since 1984 (where have you gone William Weld) John Kerry except Georg W Bush(the Bastard texan from Boston) I am the unknown Baystater.

I assume you're trying to say that you used to live here, which is indeed news to me! My point remains that as a VA resident, with 2 oh-so-wonderful Repuke senators, I don't see why you care so much about our senators up here in MA.
Btw, what senator isn't beholden to corpo interests?

John Kerry is the reason we are in the minority right now. His (Joe Biden if you want another example) pandering to corporate interests especially NAFTA has hollowed out he bread butter issus of good jobs at good union wages. Read "What's wrong with Kansas" and you will understand what gold democrats have done to our party. Kerry has been pulling this crap since he was LT Gov. I can even fault Ed Markey, or the late Tip O'Neil my congressman for this but he never went as far as long at Kerry letting corporate interests squash us. They never forgot where they came from.

Is this news? That's why I'm not a fucking democrat...the entire system, right left up and down, is entirely corrupted by big business, big money, and corporate masters...nothing new, and flailing about bemoaning the obvious isn't gonna change anything...but I assume you know that. Since when did you live in MA? You never mentioned that before...

You are also wrong about insurance companies. Many are located in MASS, but do business in all 50 states.
If they needed 'whores' in the Senate, any senator would do. So, you are wrong on that count as well.

I have to go back to their archive in the late 80's and early 90's but there were many references next to the high school basketball scores. Unlike the Herald, they had the guts to at least put in print somewhere. The Herald is a pro business trash sheet to keep the peasants entertained.

support your "whore" comment? I mean archieves from the 80's and "early 90's" seems out dated to me. I've heard it is okay to ask questions.
But you know me, I'm one of those kooky liberals that appreciate the facts. I don't make accusations or wild assertions unless I can document my claim.
Or should I promise that I will travel to Boston and check it out on my own, to be there to prove to myself that what you say is true or false?

6. Insurance is one of the few businesses that hasn't fled the Northeast. |
|
Part of any politician's job is to protect jobs in their region. I'm from that area and know that the insurance industry is one of the last places New Englanders can get good jobs with good benefits. He'd be a moron if he didn't play nice with them.
Besides, who would you rather have the insurance company donating to? BushCo? Hell, no! As long as they're going to support politicians, I'd rather have my premium payments go to a Dem over a Repuke.
Of course... I really rather have my premiums lowered to affordability and go entirely into my health care, but I think that's just a pipe dream these days.

Illinoise and Connecticut have better laws concerning insurance companies than Massachusetts, and both have larger insurance industries, but both states have two parties who have to fight for votes among the middle class who the insurance company rape. Insurance ignores the poor.

He's not the same Kerry I thought stands up to all corruption. He talked for days about a letter being passed to all his "senate" friends about the downing street minutes, and not a word has even been said since.
I doubt he even cares and just said that bit to pander to his constitutents who were outraged. I'm sick of corporate whores on both sides, clean the whole house.

If he has supported specific policies that benefit the insurance industry that you object to, I'm certainly open to hearing a discussion of them.
Otherwise, I'm not sure what your point is.

why would the association itself be automatically damning without some sort of shady action on Kerry's part. Otherwise it appears to be a kneejerk reaction to me.

20. This is why I believe in a taxpayer subsidized election system |
|
It cuts through the special interest influence that dominates all of Congress. It's what allowed America to degenerate into the state it is in. It is the influence of monied interests that would allow the public education system to degenerate, would balloon the tax code to thousands of pages just so the corporations and the very wealthy can dodge taxes, would allow environmental laws to be dismantled, would allow labor standards to deteriorate, and would send Americans off to die in such wasteful and tragic wars like Vietnam or Iraq.
At least with such a system in place, politicians would be more apt to take positions not because of the pressure applied upon them by these interests but because they came to that position through contemplation and reason and the needs of the people, not the needs of corporations and big business interests.

We had money, but we sold out our unions, idealize gays which makes Blacks Rupublican, and scare urban Catholics with abortion on demand. This is where you get your money and running them off by the truck loads. Illinoisew Dems have figured out how to do it and protect abortion, gays, blacks, and torts. Why hell is everybody worried about Howie Dean calling a duck a duck. The hell with Pelosi, tell the masses they're being screwed because he can prove it.

34. Okay. His contributions in Mass come from Insurance Co. |
|
Show me where that financial contribution has resulted in a vote that was not good for the American people. Show me where that contribution resulted in him taking an action that was better for insurance companies than it was for the American people.
What kind of insurance anyway? Car, health, or what?
Don't just point to contributions without showing me also how that resulted in something untoward. The association itself is not damning.
Now if he were Biden, and we were talking credit card companies, that would be different.
So where's the rest of the story?

38. That's what REAL campaign finance reform is all about! |
|
Insurance companies, banks, credit card companies, oil companies, pharmaceutical companies -- and more ... the HUGE CORPS own all the politicians. If Republicans take the money, Dems are forced to take the money unless they have alternative financing: grass roots or their own money.
The difference in the Dems and Repukes is this: The Democrats support meaningful campaign finance reform and the Repukes fight it.
In the long run, public financing of campaign is the answer. It would lead to a very shortened campaign season, such as in the UK. There are plenty of Dems that support it ... but not one Repuke.
