Have you ever seen the wal-mart employee "chant"? |
|
Years ago I was in a wal-mart when I heard a large number of people screaming. I thought what is that?
The employees and one or two managers were having a meeting and apparently the managers were having them all scream "W-A-L-M-A-R-T WHAT'S THAT SPELL? WALMART! IT'S NUMBER ONE!" over and over again. It made me ill to see. There was not even a fake smile on any of the employees faces. They were like zombies shouting it.
If I were ever hired there I wouldn't last an hour before walking out.
My credit union has a card that you can use for buying groceries that gives you 5% cash back. Wal-mart setup a "Neighborhood market" literally across the street from a large grocery store here. (for those who don't know what that is - it's wal-marts new grocery store walmart... only sells groceries)
The wal-mart store sells everything for pennies cheaper. I use my card at the other store and come out ahead. I recommend to everyone that must save those pennies to find a cash back card like mine to even it out. They are a twisted business that needs to lose as much busniess as possible.

1. I walked in on one of those |

"pep-rallies" a couple of years ago...in this one they were doing a cheer and it was accompanied by "motions" that reminded me of the "chicken dance". Some of the employees were clearly embarrassed to have an outsider witness the spectacle. I couldn't work there if I had to do that.....I just couldn't do it.

2. Yes, I've seen & heard it, and Kmart Supercenters did it too! |
|
They weren't as demanding as WM though.
My husband was a meat cutter for SuperK for almost 8 years. I started working for them in San Antonio when that store first opened. I remember him coming home and telling me about this insane cheer they wanted all the employees to do each morning! He went to it once or twice, but said he didn't have time for that foolishness, and just kept doing his job. KM mgmt never called him on it. I understand, at WM, you don't have a choice! You BETTER be there cheering!!!!

I was waiting for the "football" team to come running from the side lines. It was beyond stupid. After all the hulabaloo they slunk to their repective counters. It didn't appear to make them any more friendly or energetic but it sure reminded me of a cult dheering on their "God".

I read Nickel & Dimed years ago. Barbara Ehrinrich's take on it was very funny to say the least. I never went to Walmart, but when driving by one, I used to think of that, and chuckle to myself. I couldn't believe the ridiculousness of it.
