Why was Rice and not Powell doing all the talking to the UK on Iraq? |
|
I was just reading the MSNBC article about the DSM and it struck me as strange that the Nat.Security Adviser and not the Secretary of State was convincing the UK to go to war with us.
Is that normal? Why wasn't Powell used?
It seems obvious to me that Powell was out of the loop on fixing the intelligence and all the crap that was being pulled between both countries. Am I the only person who sees this as important and odd?

5. Possibly, but recent interviews show Powell is sticking to his story |
|
Although various advisors have retired and brought their grievances to the publisher, Powell is still preaching the neocon gospel.
Powell is NOT the sweetheart he is so often mistaken for. He has built his military carreer on cover-ups and unconditional loyalty.
He is/was the Administration's wildcard for dishing out bullshit to the public in the rest of the world only because he is their ONLY member with a friendly face and sounds halfway believable.
But don't be fooled. Powell is no better than the rest of them.

I seem to remember the stories about Powell as Sec. of State prior to 9/11 was that he was on the outside looking in. He had been sidelined from that get go and was never anything more than a showdog. Ultimately, he allowed himself to be trotted out and used to further Bushco's agenda. That he was out of the loop is no surprise. The real mystery is why he went along with them in selling their lies.

7. He must have been as out of the loop as we and congress were and |
|
bought into all the lies and fixed intelligence they cooked up. He was basically lied to and thought he was selling the truth. I feel bad for him but why the fuck doesn't he come forward now and say what he now must realize? That he was sold a pack of lies that Bush, Condi and the others cooked up to sell the War that they wanted so badly.
The DSM confirm this and Powell should be PISSED!

8. Powell was telling dumbo something like "you break it, you buy it." |
|
Remember, Powell was Chairman of the Joint Chiefs under Poppy. Poppy didn't want to get involved in running Iraq, and, through Scowcroft, tried to warn dumbo away from it. Powell, having been in Vietnam, may have had some clue about what it's like getting involved in another country's civil war.
Nonetheless, Powell has sullied his reputation irretrievably by his unwavering loyalty to an absolutely corrupt regime. I hope that some day he will become duly ashamed of himself, if he isn't now.

I think he has a conscience and if he was faced with letters that made him face the truth his conscience might begin to get the best of him. Just a gut feeling but certainly a long shot.

12. Powell does not HAVE a conscience. Allow me to rehash... |
|
Colin Powell:
- responsible for the attempted cover-up of the My Lai massacre. Powell: "In direct refutation of this portrayal is the fact that relations between American soldiers and the Vietnamese people are excellent."
- Decorated for operation Vernon Lake (killing hundreds of civilians).
- Approved the killing of civilians and burning civilian houses in his 1995 autobiography because they MIGHT be or shelter guerrillas.
- Involved in illegal Iraq arms trade and probably the Iran-Contra affair (the principle bonding thing in this Administration).
- Handled Desert Storm totally inept. Ordered the bombing of civilian targets (criminal), slaughtered fleeing Iraqi soldiers, refused to acknowledge (publicly) the existence of Gulf War Syndrome.
- Powell was the brain and driving force behind the illegal invasion of Panama
- Best buddies with Richard Armitage (need I say more?)
- When son Michael (as head of the FCC) approved the AOL/Time Warner merger, papa Colin just HAPPENED to own over 13 million dollars in AOL stock.
Powell is a crook just like the rest of them. He will do ANYTHING to increase his net worth and probably feels he deserves it.

10. Powell apparently was not in the loop. |
|
The decision to invade Iraq was made without him and he was told afterwards when it was necessary to use him to convince the UN about it. Damn I wish I could remember where I heard this. I'm sure it was on Air America, but I do remember that someone in the know said this.

He is a criminal and has been since the My Lai coverup. He is a player and he plays the game willingly and for the usual reasons.
