Cloture vote on BOLTON coming up. ( IMO or call it a premonition ) |
|
If that guy gets that job, kiss the U.N. goodbye. He will systematically try to weaken and render the U.N. illegitimate. They will try to stop there funding and maybe try to expel them from N.Y. The U.N is collectively the only other superpower. The only means the world has to watchdog the U.S.

2. Bush will just appoint him during the recess anyways. |
|
Then it will last until the end of 2006.
We are going to get screwed either way.

4. You're right, I saw on CSPAN that the cloture vote... |
|
is Monday at 6 p.m. EST (I'm 98% sure that is the right time). Anyway, if you watch CSPAN and they do their little thing on what's coming up in Congress this week, you should see it.

a vote that can either end debate (by limiting to a further set and agreed upon number of hours) or it allows debate to continue. They had a cloture vote on Bolton the week before last and it did not pass. I think it is 60 senators needed to pass cloture and end debate. With the last cloture vote, there were only 56 voting to end debate. Frist had to vote with the other group so that he could bring up cloture again at a later date...which should be this week (like I said in my previous post). Anyway, once cloture passes and debate ends, they will finally vote on the nomination of Bolton and then he either gets or doesn't get the job.
Hope that helped if you were confused. Sorry if it is more confusing.

8. According to what Harry Reid said, |
|
the Dems will continue to vote against cloture, and that there may possibly be even more Repub support against cloture. And yes, Frist announced on Thursday that the cloture vote on Boulton will take place at 6:00 Monday, June 20.
