"liberal" dems on TV are incompetent
Edited on Mon Jun-20-05 12:23 PM by leftofthedial
Watching Connected, it is obvious that the talking heads who allegedly represent "our" side either are incompetent or are complicit with the fascist commentators.

The topic was the Downing Street memos and the debacle in Iraq. By the end of the "debate," the discussion is not about the lying traitor in the white house or the complete lack of a mission in IRaq other than enriching the bushgang's cabal of war profiteers, it is about bringing democracy to the Middle East and "winning" the war.

Bah!

There is no plan for "winning." There is no desire to "win." The current administration are proven liars and incompetent leaders. Why should we trust them to "lead" us to victory? They lie and lie and lie.

But the Dems allow the repukes to frame the issue as a rah rah jingoistic we've got to win the big game raft of bullshit.

4. the segment before this one was about the debacle in Iraq
DSM, escalating violence, repukes defecting and becoming critical of the bushturd, etc.

Cliff May for the repukes against some woman from the DNC whom May and Crowley gangbanged and used as a doormat. Meanwhile, Ron sat there and let it happen.

2. the "liberal dems" consist of anyone whose got a spare five minutes.
And unlike the repug talking heads, they don't have a lie of the day emailed to them, and but they do have their own agenda.

7. There it is.
Part of is that democratic spokesmen are punks, but a big part of it is who the news media puts up as "representative" of the liberal point of view. A reporter, maybe? Or a self proclaimed moderate? Nothing wrong with moderates (I'm one myself) but if that's all who represents the left point of view, it's hardly, well, representative.

3. Makes me wonder how much $$ Cliff May
is making over this travesty. He's certainly vociferous in his support of this war. :eyes:

even more effective in making lies palatable than is Rove.

What a total whore. He doesn't even believe 90% of the crap he spews, but he knows he'l almost never encounter a real challenge.

5. I agree COMPLETELY. The Right Wing owns the media..
Corporate media is monopolized by the Right. All their "commentators" and "experts" easily buy this lie that Bush is trying to "bring democracy to the world."

It's just as idiotic as those who thought the US was fighting for south vietnam's freedom, but eventually learned that wasn't the case.

How long will the learning curve be this time?

14. unless all the corporations are ideologically hard RW fascist,
I don't buy this anymore. Media behaves relentlessly in the interest of RW propaganda. Even ratings and revenues are secondary to them.

8. I agree - this is a sore spot with me
it seems that very few come prepared or know how to throw the ball back. They always fall for the "do you agree with this statement" crap.

Ron is Monica's doormat - meant to look weak and ineffectual ala Alam Colmes to Sean Hannity.

11. Actually...
There are very few real liberals and Democrats on Television. There are a lot of phony Washington Elite Insiders who are far from being anything remotely resembling a liberal.

Check out The Daily Howler for excellent coverage of this specific issue:

12. That's the only way a "liberal" gets invited back
Every now and then someone with an informed, consistent position slips through and makes them look like the bunch of incompetent nincompoops that they are. That person doesn't get invited back.

18. I don't think I can list all the lies May and Monica told in the segment
But I'll try:

* the media is "liberal" and the "liberal" media hates bush

* the war in Iraq is about establishing democracy in the middle east

* bush's lies to get us into the war don't matter; all that matters is "winning"

* the military knows how to "win"; we should trust them

* "liberals" are focused on DSM only because they hate bush

* we are "winning" in Iraq; freedom is on the march

* the only solution in Iraq is to "win," otherwise you are one of the treasonous losers who cost us victory in Viet Nam

* "Saddam," "al Qaeda," "terrorists" and "bin Laden" were used interchangeably at least five times.

There were more too.

Not once did Ron or the DNC bimbo call them on one of their lies or distortions. Instead they just whined weakly, inside May's framing of the issue, on whatever absurd assertion May made. They were on the defensive the entire time. Infuriating.
