Looks like the Bush administration is going to "catch" Bin Laden.
Edited on Mon Jun-20-05 12:36 PM by Jara sang
Bush's approval ratings are in the dumps. If they "catch" Bin Laden now, that will do miracles for his numbers. It will also give the Iraqi War a much needed boost of support from Americans who have grown anxious over Bush's Iraq policy. CNN is claiming that CIA chief Porter Goss knows the location of Bin Laden. He claims that "the al Qaeda chief will not be caught until weak links in the war on terrorism are strengthened" read slash civil liberties in the United States even more. If they "catch" him, that will also be a boost to the Intelligence Community who have suffered from a series of intelligence blunders. Per haps Bin Laden has already been caught and is in a holding cell in a warehouse in Hoboken awaiting his public "capture" just like they did with Hussein. I wouldn't put anything past this lying, cheating, manipulating, fraudulent, mis-administration.

1. If bin Laden is "caught"
It will most assuredly be the former of "Wanted: Dead or Alive." I don't think the Bushistas can afford to put him on trial, you know, with a lawyer and due process and everything.

3. Honestly, I'm much more interested in bringing down the Bush admin
than in capturing Bin Laden. I think Bush is a greater threat to this country and the rest of the world than anyone else.

4. Oh I almost Forget the Bin Laden Distraction, I really thought
they were going to pull that one out during the election and they kinda did, but who knows, it would be right up their alley...

5. It may provide a temporary
boost but will it change anything? It might even make things worse, OBL will be more of a martyr and that would rally the 'insurgents' even more. They missed the chance to get him when world opinion was with America.

As the heat gets turned up on Bush, the thawing process of Bin Laden progresses at the same rate.

7. There will be a top-secret, midnight flight from Pakistan to Iraq...
So they can "git" him there.

24. No... they'll fly him to Iran and "find" him there.
That will justify a new war...

Perhaps...
and it might give his numbers a temporary boost, and it might even give a temporary boost to the numbers on the Iraq war ... however the DSM and the soon-to-be-released photos will affect the numbers on the Iraq war long-term... and the economy and their budget cuts will affect his numbers long-term.

I'm interested to know how the release of those 4 videos will affect this country.

they were screened by Congress and then secreted away.

The ACLU sued to have the pictures and videos they saw released as required under the FOIA, and the pictures will be released soon.

"The order also requires the government to provide the court with an estimate of the length of time it will take to reprocess and redact four movies included as part of the Darby collection by June 10."

The DoD was supposed to announce on the 10th when they'd expect to have them ready, but I know of no response to that order.

My pleasure, of course. :hi:

8. Desperate (for *) times call for desperate measures.
I'd rather they finally capture Public Enemy #1 than allow another terrorist attack. Maybe there will still be questions of, "Why exactly did this take so long?"

9. It would improve his ratings temporarily, but that's all!
I can tell you, if it was my admin. I would wait until right before the 2006 elections. It would help re-elect Pubs. If they find Bin Laden now, I suspect the uptick in the polls wouldn't last even an entire month.

10. if he hasn't been caught already....
he needs to release a new tape saying soemthing along the lines of..

"Hello infidel bitches! I see your president - that fortunate son of privilege, is so unpopular, that he thinks cathcing me will give him a lift. All i can say is bring it biatch!"

and then bonus points for mooning the camera and running off cackling.

11. Goss don't know shit aobut ubl's whereabouts, but he DOES know
where ubl will be "caught". The problem is they were saving this for late October/early November 2008 but with bush*s numbers tanking they have to scuttle the "afghan border find" and replace it with an "iraq/iran border find" program. Part of that is the increased chatter from Goss, et al. The saving grace is that this is a bush*co operation and as such any short term gain will be eaten away by the obvious phoniness of the whole affair. I predict ubl will be found with a SS card and a disability check and the "Librul" media WILL take it seriously.

12. My take on the so-called "weak links"
is that Bin Laden is in the tribal areas of Pakistan. Musharraf won't let American forces into Pakistan because there would be a massive backlash from the many fundamentalists in the country.

15. They'll start talking more about how he is hiding in Iran with the
mullahs. Then we can expect an "incident" that will immediately be blamed on OBL and will justify the attack on Iran.

17. Finding or admitting Bin Laden's demise would be akin to the fall of the
Berlin Wall.

The funding for the "War On Terror" would come under closer scrutiny.
I don't think they want that.

Why didn't I think of that?? So which one are they going to catch? The one from 9/11 or the guy with the wider face and flat nose that popped up right before the "election"?

22. Catch Bin Forgotten or keep gas prices down a bit longer. Hmmmm...
Not that the prices are low right now, mind you, but they will go up if they "capture" OBL.

I look for them to "capture" OBL's "right hand man" another time or two before they bite the bullet and bring in a DOA OBL. That, however is just my prediction based on some observations:

The Saudis do not want OBL damaged. He's family, remember. The Saudi family has been split for a while now, (remember--they were actually killing each other off there for a while!) and OBL plays a part in all that. If OBL gets hurt in any real way I think world oil prices will double within 48 hours. If THAT happens the US is in REALLY deep shit when everybody else gets pissed off and calls in the US debt.

The US intel insiders do not want OBL brought to trial--he knows WAY too much about too many things on a variety of subjects including Afghanistan, 9/11, and the US corporate role in Middle East politics for the last few decades. They can't afford to let him stand up in any courtroom or any public forum.

The BFEE doesn't want OBL caught for quite a few reasons, including info he has on family business with the Saudis.

I think OBL is still on the payroll. If he REALLY wanted to create the shit-storm that would bring down Bush and the entire house of cards he'd turn himself in to someplace like China or even Switzerland--someplace with enough international credibility (or even clout) that if they went to the UN and said we want a public FAIR trial it would happen.

He has not done that, and we all know that if this freakishly tall Arab can hide in a cave with his dialysis machine for this long, he can probably manage to get to someplace safe from the CIA if he WANTS to.

I dunno--I suppose he could get caught if the GOP is looking weak for 06, and they are willing to give up the asswipe in the Oval office. Even then, I doubt it, because they can't afford for gas to go up much more either--it is bad for business...

It's a pisser of a dilemma for for them, all right.
