I am depressed because... |
|
I see our leaders intimidated by the threats of the right-wingers. I see a decline in free speech. I see suppression of the truth. I see political fear in the eyes of politicians. I see stories of abuse and torture that are dismissed as nothing because they don't measure up to the atrocities of the Nazis or the Soviets. I am depressed because I know these people cannot be appeased. They are very much like the Nazis. Just give them time. I know they have the potential to do very evil things and that is depressing.

They ARE Nazis.... literally. Look at everything they believe... their philosophy.. their strategies, their goals, their methods. The Right Wing, The Republican Party and this Regime in the White House are Nazis. And I will not apologize for calling them what they are,

4. And go beyond it. Remember the Nazis didn't have nukes yet, |
|
or even the many destructive weapons that we have today. These people are hellbent on ruling the world through military might fueled by a heretical brand of Christianity.

It may not do a lot of good, but I'm so sick of this shit and I can't take it anymore. I'm doing this because if I don't I'm liable to go out into the street, scream and yank my hair out.

6. There are days when I think the whole lot of them are so |

corrupt that it isn't worth the effort anymore. I think about withholding donations to them, ignoring them, and finding a way to cheat my way through to total self-sufficiency in case everything really does go to hell in a handbasket.
But I probably won't ever do that.

7. Me, too. I can't believe my hero, Durbin, let me down. I really don't |
|
feel I have a future with this losing party of losers. I would rather lose with integrity and principle than cringing and compromising. Green Party, here I come, for better or worse.

and keep on fighting. There is a war going on in this country for our Democracy....
Remember the Emmanuel Kant philosophy! If everyone did what you are doing, would it be a good thing? If the answer is NO, then, don't do it.
If you don't want the world to be depressed......don't you be!
Smile and be thankful that we are a day closer to when we will kick some real ass. That day will come, don't you start doubtin' that now!

10. Yes, they are conditioning us to disfavor free speech |
|
First it starts with pressuring those who speak a differing opinion to apologize for their words, which is in essence apologizing for your own convictions! Before you know it, certain expressions/comparisons/words/ideas are censored. Completely, totally, irrevocably.

Take heart. ("We were never more free than under the Nazis." Jean- Paul Sartre (who had been imprisoned and tortured by the Nazis.))
This is, essentially, a "Freedom is the recognition of necessity" argument. Many know, in general terms, what we have to do. We must create an intellectual and political resistance--and I believe that we are doing it. Times may be tough, but the analysis that shows that compromise of essential principles is impossible is clear to enough people, and the patent dishonesty and viciousness of the neoconservatives clear enough to anyone who will take an honest look at the facts for them selves, that I believe we can turn this thing around, expose the lies, restore political accountability . . .
So take courage, you are not alone.
(It also helps to get regular exercise and sunshine (nature's Prozac beats the prescription medications any day.)

13. "They" are powerless without "us". |
|
Edited on Tue Jun-21-05 09:08 PM by Just Me
These are frustrating times for those of us who are fortunate enough to explore and find,...facts, reality and truth. Anyone who denies that they are fortunate to have/hold the wherewithal and initiative and courage and time to be "in the know" are taking their own worth for granted.
The burden of knowledge is heavy unless we release it without expectation.
Advancing the interests of humanity is rewarding ONLY IF you find reward in the doing. Otherwise, you will live in perpetual disappointment.
If your aim is to raise human potential, rather than the American "media-beat of heat", you will be your passion without expectation,...THAT is powerful!!!!
On edit I add a *HUGE* 'cause we are NOT alone,...we ARE the voice of/for humanity.

15. We are indeed in difficult times kentuck |
|
Edited on Tue Jun-21-05 09:20 PM by David Zephyr
Indeed, I would say scary times.
The Patriot Act and the Homeland Defense Bill were generated not as just a response to terrorism, but for implementation against our very own citizens.
The stealing of an election, the rigging of electronic voting machines with no paper trail, the stacking of the courts with lackeys for the multi-nationals, the rising prison population, the choice between working at Wal-Mart or giving your blood for oil, the consolidation of all media, the demonization of all political dissenters, the rising call for fanatical patriotism and religious intolerance...
These are not just events in a vacuum, but are a carefully orchestrated move toward corporate fascism. Do you want to know what really troubles me even more, my good friend?
The dispensing of psychiatric drugs by the pharmaceutical industry to higher and higher percentages of the American population including children. Zombie citizens who are drugged into apathy and dutiful consumerism to the point that they no longer are able to speak up.
America is quietly receiving a frontal lobotomy through the administration of prescribed narcotics to keep the people in line. And while I am hardly, by any stretch, a Scientologist (that will never happen), I do applaud them on this one single point, their opposition to the wholesale distribution of psychiatric drugs to the American people.
Kentuck, you are one of the many good reasons I frequent the DU. Every single word that you wrote is true and depressing to those of us who care. I think that it is even more alarming how few truly see where this Administration is leading this country and how quickly they are succeeding.

16. I don't understand the fear of Lame Duck Bush |
|
As with any bully, the right-wingers will keep up the bullying as long as the democrats cave in to their demands. This is a game to them, so they can say they've won. They don't give a rat's ass about an apology because they're not decent enough to apologize to the people of this country for lying to us. They don't apologize for being the cause of the loss of lives, and the maiming of our military, because they are a really insecure and extremely stupid lot. I am disgusted and angry, but it is not worth letting it depress you. This is what makes Nazis the happiest. They need their collective asses kicked. You're a strong person Kentuck, and we will make it together. :dem:
