Talking Points for Rove Rebuttle, from House Leadership
This note came from a staffer in Pelosi's office:

Friends,

Today's New York Times reports on Karl Rove's comments in NYC last night that Democrats responded weakly to Sept. 11 and placed American troops in danger. Please use the following points to respond to these outrageous comments.

It is shameful and unacceptable that Karl Rove is trying to use the sacred memory of September 11th for partisan political gains.

Karl Rove's comments are an insult to the victims of September 11th and their families.

President Bush must repudiate these remarks. Allowing these remarks to stand is a grave disservice to the men and women bravely fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan.

There is no question that Democrats support the troops. Democrats have been unwavering in our support of the war on terror and the brave men and women in uniform fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Democrats and Republicans agree that America should stop at nothing to hunt down the terrorists wherever they are.

Once again, Republicans are trying to change the subject from the President and Republican's failed policy in Iraq.

Rove Criticizes Liberals on 9/11
By PATRICK D. HEALY

Karl Rove came to the heart of Manhattan last night to rhapsodize about the decline of liberalism in politics, saying Democrats responded weakly to Sept. 11 and had placed American troops in greater danger by criticizing their actions.

"Conservatives saw the savagery of 9/11 in the attacks and prepared for war; liberals saw the savagery of the 9/11 attacks and wanted to prepare indictments and offer therapy and understanding for our attackers," Mr. Rove, the senior political adviser to President Bush, said at a fund-raiser in Midtown for the Conservative Party of New York State.

Citing calls by progressive groups to respond carefully to the attacks, Mr. Rove said to the applause of several hundred audience members, "I don't know about you, but moderation and restraint is not what I felt when I watched the twin towers crumble to the ground, a side of the Pentagon destroyed, and almost 3,000 of our fellow citizens perish in flames and rubble."

Told of Mr. Rove's remarks, Senator Charles E. Schumer, Democrat of New York, replied: "In New York, where everyone unified after 9/11, the last thing we need is somebody who seeks to divide us for political purposes."

Mr. Rove also said American armed forces overseas were in more jeopardy as a result of remarks last week by Senator Richard J. Durbin, Democrat of Illinois, who compared American mistreatment of detainees to the acts of "Nazis, Soviets in their gulags, or some mad regime - Pol Pot or others."

"Has there ever been a more revealing moment this year?" Mr. Rove asked. "Let me just put this in fairly simple terms: Al Jazeera now broadcasts the words of Senator Durbin to the Mideast, certainly putting our troops in greater danger. No more needs to be said about the motives of liberals."

Gov. George E. Pataki of New York, speaking after Mr. Rove, also touched on the Sept. 11 attacks. He promised that the proposed Freedom Tower, the new building at ground zero, would retain patriotic touches in its architecture, like a height of 1,776 feet, despite the concerns of some observers who fear that it would become a target for terrorists.

1. Oh, Talking points!
Looks like they're tired apologizing. Maybe they've learned a thing or two from the wingers? Now, watch as rove refuses to apologize.

2. Talking Points? Out here in the "hustings" a "red state type"
constituency of the GOP is pissed and insulted. We responded.

His own Department of reports
After September 11, 2001, America witnessed a wellspring of selflessness and heroism. People in every corner of the country asked, "What can I do?" and "How can I help?" Citizen Corps was created to help all Americans answer these questions through public education and outreach, training, and volunteer service.

in describing
The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Program educates people about disaster preparedness and trains them in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, and disaster medical operations. Using their training, CERT members can assist others in their neighborhood or workplace following an event and can take a more active role in preparing their community. The program is administered by DHS.
.

Ham Radio's and - which are frequently interlocking and overlapping at the local level - reported major jumps in training, membership, and participation.

Meanwhile, governmental programs such as and both reported jumps in training, membership, and retention of new members.

And, of course, the stalwart of the Emergency Response NGO's the reported a massive jump in training, membership, and most important, retention of new responders.

One can only ask - where does Mr. Rove get his numbers and facts --- maybe from his medicinal marijuana.

Rove is losing it in the non-partisan, bi-partican, apartisan volunteer emergency responder community.
