I am now worried about Bush*t speech and the public reaction
I am worried about Bush*t's speech on Tuesday. I think since it is in front of troops, its going to be a Karl Rove production.

He is going to get many standing ovations, and after it anyone who brings up the DSM will be branded as unamerican and anyone who doesnt fully support Bush will be branded unamerican as well.

This speech is for two things....

To Kill off support for the DSM and to
To up the number of recruits in Iraq.

1. Is there a Q & A after the speech?
In that setting, would it be just from the "toops"? Or the real troops and some reporters?

3. not to sure
From what I have read, it just might be a speech in front of the troops who of course will all be republicans.

10. The troops are NOT all Republicans. I was one for 15 yrs. and I was never
a Repub. However, what they are is a captive uniformed audience that will essentially be commanded to clap when ordered.

Since the media probably won't do it, what the Dems should do (but probably WON'T) is to point out how Bush uses the captive military audiences as his props and set pieces and is unable to appear before an audience that isn't handpicked or captive for fear of booing and protests.

17. I'm with Mayberry Machiavelli.
The troops will be ordered to respect the CIC. Regardless of political leanings.

18. Even among the troops, he still hand picks who his audience is
And Bush will pretend like he's a real military leader

20. How many people actually watch?
We liberals at work were complaining about Bush's speech last Monday. The infamous "I think about Iraq every day. EVERY SINGLE DAY." And not one of the conservatives had seen or heard Bush speak. They're not watching him. They listen to hate radio. And catch some Faux. But they don't watch Bush.
I think the Fort Bragg staged infommercial is a very risky move. What happens if Tuesday is like last Friday in Iraq? Another deadly explosion claims more Americans at the same time Bush is playing his Road to Victory schtick.
Plus, the Americans who will watch, are increasingly faded. We know now about Armstrong Williams and Maggie Gallagher and Jeff Gannon. We know about the "news reports" (paid for with our tax dollars) sent to the networks praising the Bush policies -- with actors and actresses.
And these are troops in Fort Bragg. Not in Iraq. Big difference.
It will all look so staged. Puppet shows for the easily led.
Even some of the smarter freepers must be skeptical of this absurd theater by now.

2. He's shouting into a hurricane now...
He can babble all he wants...the only thing it's going to do is drive his poll numbers lower.

5. This will be the usual staged event...I'm willing to bet he'll say ....
"They hate us for our freedoms", at least twice...:)

In any case, his #'s will plummet further because he has nothing of importance to crow about...:D

9. He'll say "freedom goo gah freedome goo gah freedom goo gah"
and he'll make that smirky what the fuck face several times and he'll look stupid the entire time and it'll just reinforce for most people what an idiotic motherfucker he is.

6. Ppppffffffftttttt.
Um, he'd have to be an incredibly POWERFUL, incredibly PERSUASIVE, incredibly BRILLIANT speaker to reverse his poll numbers and to win back support.

And well, he's none of those things. Not even close. He can hardly speak his native language.

Don't sweat it. It'll be another "uh" "er" "uh" eye-rolling yawner. He'll totally screw up a few phrases. There will be polite applause from the people there.

It'll be what's called "too little, too late."

13. So apparently you haven't seen him give a speech lately?
And you haven't seen his approval numbers lately?

bush giving a speech is NO way for him to fix anything. In fact, the best thing his handlers can do is KEEP him from the public eye, because every time he speaks he sounds like he's lost brain cells from the LAST time!

Ok let's bet on it. I say Tuesday night's performance will do NOTHING for him in the polls, nothing for his approval numbers, etc.

What do you say?

21. The best thing that can be done is to keep bu$h front & center.
You're correct, bu$h is losing brain cells daily. Maybe someone will notice and say something before his war moves over here.

Why should you be afraid... It's just a military stage pageant, like he's
done so many times before, to "show" how these captive troop audiences patriotically support him and the war.

How much power do you think Bush has to sway opinion in his favor at this point? I don't think it's zero, but I don't think it's a lot either.

7. Don't be so sure he'll be successful
The troops are unlikely to boo and hiss because of their discipline. However, I have a feeling that you won't see enthusiasm either. Besides, some of the media are starting to pick at *. They'll pick at his speech too.

When you give a prime-time speech, you better have a damn good reason. His last prime-time effort, the press conference, didn't help him at all.

at worst (for him) people like Jon Stewart, Olbermann, Letterman, Leno, and others will point out the obvious inanities.

What support? I've been on the road working and traveling for the past 3 weeks and I didn't find anyone who gave a crap. Let's all face the truth; it's DOA. Personally, I'm on to bigger and better things.

27. maybe one day there will be a turning point.
maybe more and more people will see bush as we see him instead of like blindfolded lemmings.
maybe when they see him strutting his chickenshit ass in front of the troops it will make more people mad than impressed.
maybe the lies, hypocrisy and arrogance will make the shinola appear as the shit it actually is.

I know for me, if I watched it (which i wont), it would just make me despise him more, if that was even possible.

maybe....
