5. No, that's what I'm suggesting.
And by stand there, I mean pulling weeds in my garden.

I think you're absolutely correct. The world needs to take one big collective deep breath/shot of tequila/toke/whatever.

I wasn't being snide in the least.

3. You must work constantly
Make a profit for the uber-rich who don't care if you live or die. See "compassionate conservatism". The industrial revolution opened Pandora's box...

I am slowing down!
My job has been made redundant and we are moving to the UK. Getting rid of two cars and taking trains.....walking to the corner shops and buying a pub. I can't slow the whole world down, but I am doing my damndest to slow my own lil corner of it down. :)

4. It's the times we live in DG
Not much you can do about it. I moved to Colorado so on the occasion that I need to slow down I can head up to the mountains and find some peace of mind there....

6. Because when you're idle, you're not working...
and when you're not working you're not productive and if you're not productive you're not improving yourself and if you're not improving yourself then you're not getting ahead of your neighbor and if you're not trying to get ahead of your neighbor then you're not a capitalist and if you're not a capitalist then you hate freedom and if you hate freedom you're a traitor and all traitors must die.

that's why

15. I think we are pushed because of the old adage 'Time is Money'
I think that problem is a United States problem...

In many US schools, students are indoctrinated to be in class on time. The consequences are often greater for being late, than for failing a class. The educational system is set up like this because employers wanted employees who were trained to punch a card on time. On top of this, out employers often push us because the make money of of our labor. The more work they can get out of any given time unit is more money in their pocket. This is probably one reason Americans have less days off per year than any other western industrialized nation.

It is interesting to note that in less materialistic countries, they don't have have the frantic pace that we do.
