Chinese go to bomb shelters |
|
http://p137.news.scd.yahoo.com/s/nm/20050621/od_nm/china_heat_dc China's forecast for Chongqing for Wednesday was a high of 34 degrees Celsius (93 degrees Fahrenheit), while in the capital, Beijing, in the north of the country, the temperature was forecast to hit a maximum 39 C (102 F). Ummm I wonder about this...Because..It gets that hot and sometimes hotter right here in Maryland some summers, and we are not offered cool bomb shelters free tea ,books and newspapers. Something is up. More reports http://www.alertnet.org/thenews/newsdesk/PEK141248.htmhttp://www.chron.com/cs/CDA/ssistory.mpl/headline/world/3234444

1. My in-laws fundie church sent some teens to India for |
|
a habitat project. The heard from them and said not to worry but the high temp that day was 120.
I would say somethings afoot in China - 93 and 102 are a heck of a distance away from 120 in India or the high temps in Arizona on a good summer day in the US.

I refuse to look for menace behind every shadow.
(Doesn't mean it's not there, of course...)

3. My Fiance is in Shanghai at the moment |

She called yesterday and complained about the heat wave. Make of it what you will, but apparently the heat's really getting to people this year.
Who Knows?

Central heat and air conditioning are non-standard in China (most of Asia) - rarely found in buildings. You cook in the Summer and freeze in the Winter. That's life.

7. I'd wager there's a whole lot more public air conditioning, |
|
like in malls, theaters, etc., in Maryland than in most places in China.
Just a guess.
Like the heat wave that wracked Europe last year, killed 10,000 people. It wasn't just that it was hot, but that the normally temperate clime had not prepared for such heat. Most people did not have air conditioners, and many didn't even have fans.
It's going to get worse, before it gets better.

9. Could this be blatant, empty fearmongering by the pre$$? |

Remember, these whores* will do anything to maintain power and control.
