BRITAIN'S 100 LEAST INFLUENTIAL PEOPLE
THEY have all the trappings of power - money, fame (of sorts) and they are seldom out of the public eye. Yet the harsh truth is that this lot, despite holding some of the highest offices in the land, are of little use to anyone.

While other papers compile "Power" lists and guides to the nation's Richest, the Daily Mirror has decided it's time to highlight Britain's most spectacular non-entities. And so, with a (very tinny) drum roll, we unveil the first ever Top 100 of the LEAST Influential People in Britain.

We judged our (un)worthy winners on three criteria: their inability to wield cultural influence, economic clout or political power.

Top of the list is Foreign Secretary Jack Straw but Prince Edward, Conservative leader Iain Duncan Smith and Liberal Democrat boss Charles Kennedy aren't far behind. Among other politicians vying for recognition for their uselessness are Lord Falconer, Richard Caborn, Oliver Letwin and Gerald Kaufman.

But out list isn't all politics. We pay homage to men and women from the fields of culture, journalism, television, sport and beyond. Singer Robbie Williams gets the plaudits for failing to crack the US market and floppy-haired fop and occasional actor Hugh Grant gets an accolade for his ability to play er, floppy haired fops.

This is great! We need this in the U.S.

1. Bush
2. Russert
3. Fineman
4. Noelle
5. Robertson
6. Falwell
7. Rove
8. Perle
9. Woodward
10. (this one's your job to fill in)
