Shocked I am - shocked! As editor of the Weakly Standard, I can assure you that Mr. Murdoch's largesse has never once influenced our content or editorial positions.

I ask you - must one wallow in a middle class lifestyle to fairly and accurately report the news? Of course not - the opposite is in fact true. It is the very nature of my steak lunches at the Palm which allow the Weakly to function as it does. How else are we to pay for our daily distilled bread if not from Mr. Murdoch's kind donations - revenue from subscriptions and advertisement? That must sound ludicrous even to you.

And where in this calculation does the fact that Mr. Murdoch's opinions and views are so often correct fit in?

Please - no more interruptions of this kind. It is almost noon and I am late for lunch. I will be lucky to fit in four martinis before my 3:00 meeting at this rate.
