(Atlantic Beach, Fla. -AP, July 6, 2005 11:13 AM) _ L. Patrick Gray, the Connecticut lawyer whose brief stint as acting FBI director was marked by the Watergate break-in and the ensuing political scandal, has died.
His son says Gray died today in Florida of complication from pancreatic cancer. He was 88.
In 1972, Gray was awaiting Senate confirmation as deputy attorney general when J. Edgar Hoover died and President Nixon appointed him to temporarily replace the longtime FBI chief.
Six weeks later five burglars broke into the offices of the Democratic National Committee at the Watergate complex.

3. He was on This Week a couple of weeks ago |
|
When George Stephanopolous asked him why he was doing an interview now, several weeks after the Deep Throat reveal, he said "I am not a well man, Mr. Stephanopolous."
he did feel very betrayed, claimed to not have had any knowledge as to what was going on.
