Explosive New Rove Revelation Coming Soon?

"I don't usually log on Saturday evenings. But I've received information too good not to share immediately. It was only yesterday that I was bemoaning the probability that -- after a week of apparent Rove-related revelations--it might be a while before any more news emerged about the Plame/CIA leak. Yet tonight I received this as-solid-as-it-gets tip: on Sunday Newsweek is posting a story that nails Rove. The newsmagazine has obtained documentary evidence that Rove was indeed a key source for Time magazine's Matt Cooper and that Rove--prior to the publication of the Bob Novak column that first publicly disclosed Valerie Wilson/Plame as a CIA official -- told Cooper that former Ambassador Joseph Wilson's wife apparently worked at the CIA and was involved in Joseph Wilson's now-controversial trip to Niger..."

2. That info links Rove, but it doesn't prove he's guilty of treason.
Rove can still say he had no idea she was a covert agent. The RW has already been circulating stories that Valerie was working in an office in DC and no more than an anylist.

I hope Time has more, but so far this isn't doing much.

3. I agree
That's the best angle Rove can play. Claiming not to know. Of course we all know he knew. I just hope something happens of this. I'm not holding my breath though. They've already gotten away with so much. *sigh*

4. Disagree.
It is allowing a Federal Prosecutor to open up the can of worms that is the * White House, in a Federal Court of Law, and shine the light inside it.

This is big. Remember, Watergate started with a simple burglary...

5. I hope you're right
I do hope you're right. I would love nothing but justice to come from all that has happened since 2000. But there have been so many scandals.... They still find someway to get around it.

7. This one should be different...
I don't believe the others have made it into a Court of Law, only the Court of Public opinion.

11. She may have worked as an analyst. But she was also a NOC
I heard a few CIA people on Nightline one night in latle 2003 who appeared because they were incensed that Plame's cover had been purposefully disclosed - they said she was a deep cover agent working in the Middle East on WMDs. That pretty much does it. The blathering idiots on the right can try to believe all the spin they are being fed to buy a little time on this (and to try to inoculate the sheeple), but these guys from the CIA were speaking out in anger at the administration.

they were saying if Rove lies, saying he didn't know that she was a covert CIA operative, and it comes out that he knew that she was, it will even have worse implications for him.

Face it Rover - you are BUSTED

9. That pix is so hilarious....
Has anyone emailed it to Herr Rove himself yet? They say that one of the best ways to beat a sociopath is with ridicule and humour - they can't handle it.

10. But this is NOT in the MSM's court....
Edited on Sun Jul-10-05 12:06 AM by Tommymac
it is in a Court of Law. Justice doesn't give a rats ass about ratings...and Mr. Fitzgerald seems like a damn fanatical prosecutor when it comes to justice.

There are still decent people out there doing their job....and it really doesn't matter if the press wants to cover it or not...the legal proceedings will still go on.

I'm glad they're still going on and reporting this story even if it's only on a blog.

16. Ken Starr was fanatical
He was out in front of the fucking camera at the drop of a hat. He spent years chasing nothing. That's fanatical.

Fitzgerald is doing his job. He knows this is a criminal regime. He's getting his ducks in a row.

18. Bad choice of diction on my part
...I meant fanatical in a good way...perhaps dogged or tenacious would have been a better choice. Sorry.

17. Read my lips: "apparently worked at the CIA" is not revealing
one's deep cover. Only if he said that Valerie's was an "agent" will this crime work to put Rove in jail. (Of course, Bush would immediately pardon him.) But the details of "was involved in Joseph Wilson's ...trip to Niger" (a fact that Rove knew to be exaggerated at best and untrue at worst) show "malicious intent to smear" in my opinion. Depending on how deep she was undercover, sometimes just saying that one "works for the CIA" is enough to do great damage..that's why most say they work for the State Department for cover. Rove leaked information before during Bush I administration so he is a definite leaker. It's not enough for him to have all the power, he has to be a "leaker" and "smearer" too. I hope his ass lands in Jail next to Judith. And I hope Gannon pays him as many visits in jail as he did to the WH.
