Question for any Lawyers out their
John Dean's speculation on "the Conspiracy to defraud the government" appears to be the one Fitzgerald can prove. Spreading false information to the press is considered to be defrauding the government in John Dean's view. According to him that's what was used to send many of the Watergate figures to prison.

We now know that Rove said to Cooper that Plame sent Wilson to Niger which turns out is FALSE! Rove had a responsibility to check this out before spreading it to the press. Would this be enough to get Rove on "the Conspiracy to defraud the government"? Or would calming ignorance be enough to get him off?
