What happens to ROVEGATE when Bush makes his SCOTUS nomination?

That is, what happens to the news coverage of ROVEGATE when Bush makes his pick for the Supreme Court in the next few days? Especially if Bush picks an ultra-right-wing Christian conservative. The more controversial the pick, the more explosive will be the judicial hearings, the more time it will consume and the more coverage it will get.

Let's face it, Rove is about to get off the hook.

6. Yes it will continue, but the media will go nuts over Supreme Ct nominee
and obliterate anything about Rove and that story will go away. I still think Fitzgerald is planted to make this come right for Bush**-Rove.

11. You would think the media could chew bubble gum and walk ...
at the same time, but obviously they can't. It's all or nothing.

One story, 24 hours a day, until the next ONE story.

2. The two issues should be connected
by a brave and fearless democrat. "If karl rove is the kind of person george bush would put his faith in and appoint to a high governmental office he surely can't be trusted in selecting supreme court members." And over and over and over.

3. I hope not. Terra didn't get him off the hook, why should SCOTUS?
I think the press is pissed now. They know that they were lied too and that Rove played them on the 1st Amendment and the want blood.

5. Same thing that's happened to DSM
You don't hear about it anymore do you? It's off the MSM radar.

American media has the attention span of a mouse with ADHD.

8. Exactly!
The Downing Street Memo scandal, which is more likely to get Bush impeached than Leakgate is to get Rove fired, has simply dropped off the radar screen.

The whole 9/11-mantra scare tactic is no longer diverting attention from the scandals, so a real nasty Supreme Court nomination battle is in order. Just what the doctor -- dictator -- ordered.

7. I must disagree. London bombings & Hurricane Dennis had no effect
on KKKarls' destiny. The prosecutor will not be swayed by the press or the WH spin. I believe they have the goods on Karl.

10. Re London & Dennis
The bombings happened "over there" so to most Americans it's not important. Dennis lasted only a day.

A Supreme Court battle could last MONTHS.

Not The First Time: Rove and Novak

Rove Was Fired For Leaking A Damaging Story About GOP Fundraiser. Esquire's Ron Suskind reported that, "Sources close to the former president say Rove was fired from the 1992 Bush presidential campaign after he planted a negative story with columnist Robert Novak about dissatisfaction with campaign fundraising chief and Bush loyalist Robert Mosbacher Jr. It was smoked out, and he was summarily ousted."

13. I'm Sure Bush Is Worried About The Reverse Question
What happens to Bush's SCotUS noms when Rovegate is made public?

Think about it. If he nominates someone and then Fitzgerald indicts key members of the Bush administration, it will weaken Bush and the Republicans severely.

I'm sure the Repubs are scrambling trying to find out everything they can about Fitz's case and his intentions. Their nomination strategy could quickly unravel if Fitz announces indictments after they've begun.

16. Rove, Plame, and the scandal we won't let go away
"I've never been able to figure out why reporters haven't dug in on this. It seems to have all the elements of a blockbuster political scandal. We have a vindictive White House illegally leaking word about a political enemy's wife, contradictory White House efforts at spin, WMD, international intrigue, and a federal criminal investigation. What's not to like?"

17. From the Tonight Show ...
"The president's top political adviser, Karl Rove, is spending all his time working on Bush's next Supreme Court nominee. Well sure, that's because this judge could decide if Rove is going to prison or not." --Jay Leno
