Rep. Peter King: Tim Russert "to be shot" for giving Wilson "a free ride"

Eliminationism from the top
Friday, July 15, 2005
http://dneiwert.blogspot.com/2005/07/eliminationism-from-top.html

The Plame affair, it seems, really has Republicans snarling, their usual response when backed into a corner.

You can tell that because now the eliminationist talk is coming from the Bush White House's own mouthpiece -- namely, Rep. Peter King, who's been selected as the House point man for defending Karl Rove.

King was on MSNBC's Joe Scarborough show the other night and, according to the MSNBC transcript, had this to say:
And Joe Wilson has no right to complain. And I think people like Tim Russert and the others, who gave this guy such a free ride and all the media, they're the ones to be shot, not Karl Rove.
I haven't seen the tape of the show, but the quote is enjoying an odd half-life on the radio, thanks to Rush Limbaugh, who alters it slightly to "ought to be shot", and then chimes in inimitably: "That's Peter King, who's right on the money."

Lovely.

Just wondering: Have any Democrats in Congress -- or Joe Wilson, for that matter -- suggested that Karl Rove be shot?

Ah, I didn't think so.

1. national security evidently doesn't matter to Republicans
The cover of CIA operatives is evidently unimportant if the WH has a beef with someone in their family. The Dems need to use this scandal to show how the GOP doesn't care about national security.

And Tim Russert gave Wilson a "free ride"? No, that's what he did for Condi Rice and Ken Mehlman... anyone who's not a goosestepping neo-con bootlicker gets the third degree, ya moron.

5. My first thoughts exactly
When someone questions anything about this administration and the right wing nut cases the m.o. is to 'kill' them.

It's a blessing that bush ran in 2000 it opened my eyes w-i-d-e to the bullshit of the Republican party and politics in the U.S. in general. Thank you, Illegitimate one!

6. "to be shot" ????
Those are some strong words. What does this mean? That Republicans should arm themselves and blow away people in the Press? The media would be all over this if a Dem suggested such a thing.

7. this is the same asshat that said "the election is over, we won" at a 2003
Edited on Fri Jul-15-05 10:58 AM by helderheid
BBQ:

It was months before the election, but New York Congressman Peter King was so sure of the outcome of the Presidential race that, after apparently having a few too many drinks at a White House barbecue, when documentary film maker Alexandra Pelosi asked him who he thought would win the election, King replied, "It's already over, the election's over. We won. It's all over but the counting, and we'll take care of the counting." It was classic Neocon bravado, a kind of "we'll do whatever it takes to get what we want" mentality. It doesn't matter how Americans vote, because "we'll take care of the counting".

Edited on Fri Jul-15-05 11:03 AM by tk2kewl
King has gone too far!

Many Long Islanders once viewed Peter King as a kind of maverick Republican, who didn't always follow the party line but would act out of conscience and in the interest of his constituents. Oh, how times have changed.

Mr. King has now resorted to the inflammatory bullying tactics of the far right when dealing with his constituents and unbelievably, on MSNBC's Joe Scarborough Show, he suggested that Tim Russert be shot for his coverage of the investigation of Karl Rove's involvement in leaking CIA agent Valerie Plame's identity.

This King constituent has had it with him. It's time we send someone to Washington who is willing to work for our interests rather than someone willing to spew hateful threats and spin the latest extreme propaganda.

16. So it is fine to allude that anyone who disagrees w/the administration
should be "liquidated"? :wtf: These people are insane!

We need a public outcry to demand an apology, if for no other reason, the RW maniacs would be screeching like stuck pigs if a D had said anything close to this.

These people have no shame, no dignity, no honor. Rather than bring up any worthwhile talking points, they allude that shooting someone for doing their job, is better than searching for the truth...:grr: What a disgusting turn of events.

26. King also thinks Rove should "Get a Medal"
for exposing Joe Wilson as a liar! The man is the Congressman from the adjoining district- he has lately been writing insulting and nasty letters to constituents and telling them they are "lucky" to have a Congressman who bothers to respond to them at all.

He is a total asshole- but he remains popular in a district that is heavily Republican for reasons no one sane could possibly understand- it is truly mind boggling- maybe people really like to be abused and treated like shit by people who ostensibly represent them. I can't imagine why- but it appears that a lot of Americans really do.

Kind of reminds me of the way the meanest, nastiest, pettiest people are the ones who are popular in high school- who can explain it?
