Should Congress Investigate the CIA Leak? (DC's NBC Poll)
There is an online poll being conducted at http://www.nbc4.com/index.html which is the site for the local NBC affiliate in Washington, D.C. So far the NO votes outnumber the yeas, 55 to 45%

The poll can be found on the home page, on the right near the bottom. I was rather shocked at the poll results so far and thought some of you might want to participate.

1. Tempted to vote "no"...
Once Congress jumps in, all pretense of impartiality flies out the window. Right now with Fitz, it looks to be as unreproachable as anyone could possibly expect, given all the high profile players.

Without Congress, we may actually have some real indictments. With Congress "helping," who knows what would be the result?

4. Iran-Contra should be very instructive here...
... partial and absolute immunity provided by Congress to the principals in that sordid little matter kept most of them out of jail--Ollie North prominently so in that bunch.

Congress can have their turn after the criminal trials.

7. I don't see this as an "either/or" question

I think Fitz is doing a great job and will certainly do the only effective job, but I also want the American people to see just who among their representatives would publicly declare their support for this treasonous behavior from BushCo and his puppeteers. Let them hang out all the dirty laundry in public and let's see whose sheets are bloody. And then let's see Fitz hand down some indictments just in time for some impeachment proceedings!

3. Keep Congress the F* out of this.
Impeachment is the job they need to do.

8. Precisely my point.
I don't want to see an investigation that too many American people can simply ignore when it drops off the front page or is upstaged by the news media for the latest celeb trial or missing blond girl. I want them to be smacked in the face with it 24/7 just like we all were with the Lewinsky/Clinton investigation.

Meanwhile, Fitz can bring the legal hammer down and what he and his staff are doing will remain top news in tandem with a Congressional investigation, hopefully one that will lead to impeachment.

That's the way the media game works, folks, and we need to learn how to play it down and dirty just like the Repukes.

10. Please recommend this--we are turning it around
Just the pressue to have hearings will keep it in the news--otherwise it is likely to be forgotten--like the DSM and countless other stories

11. Gee, I don't know.
I am concerned it would turn into debacle that would not be favorable to truth. This requires some thought into the potential consequences.

investigations anytime soon..What we need to do is to keep the pressure up for future inquiries. That is the point..Otherwise the story WILL die.

When I look at some of the responses on this thread today, I am reminded of Molly Ivins famous quote, "Trying to organize Democrats is like trying to hurd cats"...

14. Poll is very deceptive
It isn't really asking you if you should think Congress should step in. First of all a newspaper doesn't recommend to Congress that certain things be investigated. This poll is all about YOUR interest in the Plame affair.
