Supreme Court appointment speed up?
Heard a couple of talking heads on the news last night - basically more blather on Rove

but my ears pricked up when one talking was asked about the Supreme Court appointment -- it was speculated bush* would nominate a Justice soon and the 'speed up' is politically motivated to knock the Rove stories off the front page -- given the pattern of spin and diversionary tactics - I'd say this is about right

timing is everything - bush* goes on vacation in August, Congress is recessed for the month too

my guess is we'll have a name just before bush* leaves for vacation.

how much of a diversion from Rove would this be? what do you think?

1. depends a lot on who is named
I can't see Bush going too far right on this nomination, not after the Bolton fiasco. I look for him to name someone who is a celebrity, someone who, on the surface, appears to be a "nice guy". That type will create a lot of news froth (what the networks put on to hide the real news) and might well keep the Rove problem out of sight for a while.

3. even CNN pointed that out
That it would take the heat off of Rove & the Leak investigation for a day or two.

Yep, and he could nominate a rabid anti-abortion judge too. That would knock Rove back to page C-23 for a couple of months.

However 103 days from now it will be October 31, 2005, Indictment-Day. Where will Rove be then? What kind of spin will be able to keep the white House off the front page when that happens?

So let them play their little games. They are dead meat and all the gyrations on earth can't revive them.
