Keep it alive only in the blogs because it'll be all that much worse when the indictments are handed down.

2. I wouldn't be upset
if it did....

Bush* will hand us another scandal/controversy soon enough just because he's arrogant.

If the general public starts to suffer from scandal fatigue, Bush* and the Repubs are in trouble in '06.

4. But the elections aren't until next year.
This case is supposed to be wrapped up by EOY.

5. I say keep it alive and doubt there will be any indictments. Lets keep
the heat on them.

6. There will be no indictments in October
Edited on Tue Jul-19-05 08:24 AM by bluestateguy
The Justice Department has an unwritten rule that frowns on election eve indictments, especially in politically charged cases like this. This was after Lawrence Walsh's indictments of Iran-Contra figures on the Friday before the 1992 election, which could have waited another week.

All that would do is further politicize the whole thing and provide the Right with the ammunition to say that this is a political witch hunt. Also, the only elections this November are for Mayor of NYC and the governorships of Virginia and New Jersey.

9. Um, there isn't an election this year.
The election is next year.

And Fitzgerald doesn't give a flying frack about elections anyway because he indicts when he's ready to indict.

7. Not much is going to happen for a while. . .Fitz isn't talking - but PRESS
could work on in the meantime for background what's coming from the grand jury:

-- a nice long profile of Karl Rove, all about his history in attack politics. (tiring of repugs telling me what a decent honorable man he is)

-- the State Dept memo on Wilson, the Africa trip, who had it, how Karl got it. What does Colin Powell know, Condi's spin book for her TV appearances, marked "Top Secret" (for tv appearances!?!?!?)

-- Is Karl Rove working with Mehlman right at this moment crafting this "Attack Joe Wilson part 2" campaign? (of course he is . . . )

-- Bush Cheney involvement

-- A nice profile of WHIG and how they sold the war/DSM/fixed intel

10. It doesn't matter
We are victims of timing. Even if their activities are revealed in October, their mark of changing America through its laws are basically unstoppable. Victories in 2006 won't erase the damage.

11. Repetition is effective. I don't want this story to fade.
I want it pounded over and over and over in the minds of the American public so that they won't forget it!!!

12. This story would have legs for a long while if the Media kept at it...
I mean look at the Durbin situation the Right made such a big deal of. It was a single sentence and they squeezed it for all i was worth for weeks.

14. It is up to the media. Look at the mileage they
got out of "I did not have sexual relations with that woman...." Think of how many times the Dean "scream" was broadcast.

When the media wants to do someone harm, there's no such thing as overkill. The question is whether outing a CIA agent and lying about it for two years rises to the level of a bj in the WH.
