Is any candidate really calling for the US to actually leave Iraq?
And can any really? And not for political reasons either. More for common sense reasons. The best sounding thing I have heard from any candidate is to turn everything over to the UN and let them handle it. But really can they? I would like to think they could myself. But I don't think they can. The United Nations is the United States. Am I wrong here?

5. But my point is that the UN does not have the troops to do the job
The US would still have the majority of soldiers there. They would just be wearing blue helmets. That is my point. I think?

I think Al is too. I don't remember what Carol said. Someone else will, I'm sure.

4. At this point that is the best we can do
We went in there and destroyed that country. At this point for us to pull out 100% would be almost criminal. I mean if I went and bombed your house and then just left you'd have the cops after me and want restitutions for the damage I've done (note to Ashcroft - I have no clue how to even go about doing anything as crazy as bombing NNN0lHI home).

Plus if we just pull out completely we'll lose in more respect with our one time allies.

But we can cut back our numbers and turn things over completely to the hands of the UN. WE can cut the no-bid contracts with Halliburton and other Bush sponsers. And we can help Iraq get the oil fields flowing and ensure that they money used to pay for that oil gets in the hands of the Iraq government. And we can leave a small peacekeeping force that will help ensure that there are elections but there also also several candidates available to choose from (Hussein had elections but no one dared run against him).

We have to do what is fair and unless we give UN full control our country will have to be shelling out all the money to pay for it (with a small pitance from other countries).

WE can do this!
