5. another Du'er suggested
that Dems lay low about criticizing the nominee, thereby keeping the news on Rove/Libby/Cheney-gate. may be a very smart strategy. Plenty of time to gear up for the confirmation fight in August. The press was saying all day, "Both sides are geared up to define the nominee immediately with their PR machines." Methinks that's what the Repubs want us to do....I like stategy #2 better....staying on message for Treasongate.

8. Yep. Don't fall for Rove's entrapment. It's his basic shtick!
Screw 'em.

Peace.

7. IMO, Panetta is playing it smart.
They want us to REACT! Why the hell do you think that this nomination was pushed up the way it was? They are shitting themselves right now because of the Traitorgate scandal. They want to be back on the OFFENSIVE and put us on the DEFENSIVE. I say we proceed methodically. The SC nomination won't even be debated for another 5+ weeks. We've got them on the ropes. Hence, the nomination. Panetta isn't falling for it, IMO. The man is one shrewd cookie. I was his constituent for many years and he has never let me down.

Peace.

9. playing possum is one thing
giving the guy a pass is another.

if you don't want to start the flame war now, just say I haven't examined his record in depth just yet

10. He NEVER gave him a pass. He said that we should gather
the info and then proceed. This has nothing to do with a flame war. This has everything to do with common sense.

Peace.

13. That didn't take long. The grovelling wing speaks.
The "compromise" can't be far behind. Of course, the DLC(R) will tell us what a great Victory it is for the Democrats to roll over again.
