One CEO Gets It Right (DailyKos)
http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2005/7/24/173330/038

Loyalty pays its own rewards. There is tremendous internal pressure to keep a Costco job. You show up, on time, sober and don't steal. It pays as well as a factory or civil service job. The health care plan alone can keep their workers loyal. They save millions on training and theft investigations. When you treat the worker as disposable, they treat the job the same way. When you invest in them, they will save you money.

Yes! YES!!

I work for a major airline that does everything in its power to treat me like dirt; if we weren't unionized, I swear they'd work us until we died and then sell our bodies to a dog food factory.

Our management lives VERY well--yet has the balls to ask us regularly for pay cuts because they've run the company into bankruptcy.

How much loyalty do you think they earn?

I wish I lived near a Costco. Knowing what I know now, I'd shop there every fecking week. But I AM going to print the DKos article and its linked articles and post them at work.

Support the companies that support the worker.

(Excerpt above is from article linked to DKos article.)

5. We joined Costco for this very reason just yesterday, and...

we do not even live near one.

The closest one to us is quite away out of our way. But we figure if we only make the trip once a month it will be worth it.

Hell we nearly made our membership fee back in savings on stuff we normally buy anyway, while we were there.

We really do not need to buy things in bulk, since it is just me and my wife at home.

We have a modest size home with not much room for storage, less than 8000 square feet.

It is at least a 45 minute to one hour drive one way for us in heavy traffic most of the way.

We found out that you do not have buy lots of items buy the truck load to get a major savings.

For instance I drink lots of Gatorade at work, one to two bottles on a normal day. I pay over seven bucks for an eight pack at Publix, I payed twelve dollars for an entire case at Costco. Mega savings just on that alone. Plus were given a coupon for three dollars off on our next trip.

Never mind all the other stuff that we purchased while we were there.

And the savings on big ticket items will be worth it such as appliances, tools etc. will make it very worth while.

We did not have a clue about all this, the only reason went to join was because of the posts we read about the way they treat their employees.

I highly recommend a trip to anyone, even if it is not close to you. It will be worth the trip, plus you will be sending a message to Corporate (Culprit) America. Buy Costco, support american employees!

:woohoo:
