Newsweek Poll: Should Donald Rumsfeld Resign?
Edited on Sat Sep-27-03 03:12 PM by Billy_Pilgrim
http://www.msnbc.com/news/NW-front_Front.asp

I'm not sure if this qualifies as LBN, if the mods want to move it, I certainly understand.

That being said, the fact that the question is being raised by Newsweek in such a yes or no fashion is, IMHO, pretty important.

Is the house of cards these people built beginning to tremble?

On edit: Great Sharpton Quote from the linked page:

“Don't be defensive about just joining the party... It's better to be a new Democrat that's a real Democrat, than a lot of old Democrats up here that have been acting like Republicans all along.”

The Rev. Al Sharpton to neophyte Democrat Wesley Clark

Man. And I love this Sharpton quote:

"Don't be defensive about just joining the party... It's better to be a new Democrat that's a real Democrat, than a lot of old Democrats up here that have been acting like Republicans all along."

It's just so damn friendly and inclusive!

20. A HUGE Bias in that second MSNBC presidential poll you linked to.
Not all of the candidates are listed!

Regardless of which Democratic candidate you might personally support, which do you think is most likely to unseat George W. Bush if nominated?

Retired Gen. Wesley Clark
Connecticut Sen. Joe Lieberman
Missouri Rep. Dick Gephardt
Former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean
Massachusetts Sen. John Kerry
All the same
None of them can beat Bush
Don't know

While any resignation denotes failure and is welcome...if Rummy (and Cheney for that matter) are becoming albatrosses...come election time, where better they be than around the neck of this admin.?

32. Hot diggity dog, The Reverend Al is NOTHING to sneeze at!
He impressed me mightily during the last debate. Don't think he'll get far as a nominee, but he MOST CERTAINLY has earned a place at the table. The don't come much more eloquent than that. He has that "E. F. Hutton" effect - when he talks, people listen.

37. Are you serious?
Rummy is a MUCH bigger threat than Bush. So is Cheney, Wolfowitz, Perle, Halliburton, etc. Haven't you learned by now that Lil' Bush is just a puppet? I've thought all along that when people attack Bush, they're just attacking him because he's THE FACE of the Republican adminstration.

38. Of course I am serious.
We can't have Rummy taking the blame for Iraq, IF it might absolve bush!! If he doesn't go down, then Poppy bush simply tells him whom next to appoint to the Pentagon, and he just might start another war!

OF COURSE I know that Dumbo is a puppet!! I have been saying that here for over two years! :eyes:

39. Think about this.
What would you rather do, try and push forth a "impeach Bush!" campaign that will never work, while keeping PNAC-man Rumsfeld in charge of the military--OR, get rid of Rumsfeld NOW, and then kick Bush's ass in '04? I think the choice is simple.

40. False alternatives.
I have said nothing about impeaching bush -- it will never happen, unless we get an entirely different Congress, which is not going to happen.

AGAIN, my concern is, that should Rummy resign, the media will put the entire blame for the Iraq invasion on HIM, and thus attempt to clear bush of any fault. Kicking bush's ass in 2004 might be made harder, if the figures in his regime the public dislike the most, are let go now.

41. At 1st glance, that's not unreasonable
You want to keep his lying ass in office and let him continue to do his damage and cause Bush to lose the election next year.

But, the country would be stuck and continue to suffer under his "leadership".

BUT, there would be great fallout if he were to resign and blame for all the "bad stuff" was pinned on him. Bush would take a big, big hit. I don't think he could recover.

If Cheney can be forced out, I say do it. I do not see any downside in his resignation.

Just the fact that Newsweek is asking the question tells you something. I was Shocked, for the first time today, how many people disapprove of Bush's performance = 84%.

If that isn't enough to flush him down the toilet, I don't know what is.
