Congress plans to scrutinize Plame-related issues

Congress will conduct a series of hearings on national security and espionage issues raised by the CIA-leak controversy surrounding senior Bush adviser Karl Rove, officials said on Monday.

The House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence plans hearings on potential national security threats posed by leaks, including leaks to the media, and will aim to toughen legislation barring the unauthorized disclosure of classified information

1. That's appropriate
Now if we can only convince Republicans that their ends don't justify their means. . .

2. Now if no one testifies before Patrick Fitzgerald is done with them
Or is granted immunity for testamoney... I smell fuckup in the works here.

3. What concerns me
is that, while this leak is bad enough, to me, the overriding issue are the lies that got us into Iraq. Wilson (and his wife) would never have been targets if the * administration weren't hell-bent on getting us into an illegal war.

I think Congress's time would be better spent conducting some serious hearings on (1) the DSM, and (2) the reasons behind the 'outing'.

4. I agree
What about the crime of invading another country for no legitimate reason, almost 1800 soldiers killed and over 100,000 civilian Iraqis murdered?

If anything brings them down I will be happy.

5. Yes, they need to be 'brought down"
But, I think that Congress needs to operate, as much as possible, without anger. Sometimes anger gets in the way of getting at the truth. At least this is my thinking.
