Any Bill Hicks fans out there? |
There is a great DVD out there of some of his concerts. He rips Bush 41 a new one and what he says could easily apply to 43 if not more so.Check it out if you havent already.A shame he died so young. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0004Z33FK/102-1623805-0194537?v=glance

It was as exiting as hearing the Beatles for the first time. Really.

7. Watched a different one this weekend |
But still pretty incredible. Got it from Netflix. Fascinating how prescient many of his dialogues were: the rising influence of the religious right and the morality police (and Hicks knew his fundies, growing up in the deepest, darkest areas of the Bible Belt to a fundie family), U.S. activities in the Middle East, censorship, etc. I wish he was here today for his commentary
The DVD I had included a documentary about his work. I was stunned that he was only about 15 when he started doing professional standup, and developing a fan base. The docu also mentioned that his last appearance on Letterman was cut from the show at the last minute, and I believe the tape was destroyed. He had intended it to be his farewell to the world (by that time, he knew he was dying). I wonder what he could have said that scared the PWB at the network so much.

9. I was too young to know of Bill when he was Alive |
But since I discovered him a few years ago I've listened to just about everything of his I could get my hands on. I know if he was still alive he'd be having a field day right now.

Derby and I listened to one of his CD's on the way to work this morning. I was commenting on how much we need him right now.
