Just so every one knows being informed does not = "far-left"
Edited on Wed Jul-27-05 02:52 AM by Melodybe
I just wanted to say that. Since when does agreeing with the constitution and the secular society it wanted to create = equal far left? Since when does not wanting anyone abusing the system be it welfare queens or corporations = far left? Since when does not approving of children being anally raped in the name of democracy = far left? Since when does defending the Bill of Rights = far left? Since when does not wanting their to be poison in the drinking water or the beef = far left? Since when does wanting Americans to be able to earn a fair wage for a hard days work = far left? Since when does not supporting a war based on lies = far left? Since when does not wanting my children to be tested for and given anti-psychotic drugs = far left? Since when does wanting every vote to count = far left? Since when does wanting the super rich people and corporations to pay the fair share of maintaining this country = far left? Since when does wanting my children to receive a decent education = far left?

If being liberal or far left means all those things than I call bullshit! I call bullshit on a system that tells me not to be a decent human being! I call bullshit on a society that tells me I do not love my country!

BULL SHIT! I know it, you know it, and deep down in their confused little brains the American people know it too.

1. IMO, none of those are far-left.
Of course, it also depends on how you interpret a couple of them.

3. Far left does not = informed
Either. The far left pulls shit out of its ass and calls it fact as often as the centrists do. Or omits fact, like information that the African yellowcake wasn't just Niger, but possibly the Congo and Somalia as well. True or not true, not my point; the left omits it altogether. Just like those who call any Democrat who doesn't believe in MIHOP a DLC corporate whore, which is just stupid.

It cuts both ways and until both sides see where they're wrong and where they're being played, the circular firing squad will continue and we'll keep losing.

Oh, and rural Democrats who win do it by running away from all the issues that are so important to the far let. Show up, organize, bla bla; won't matter without compromise and much of the compromise is the exact kind recommended by the DLC. Jagged little pill...

4. True that, I compromise daily with rednecks, I find things that
we have in common and I stress those things in conversation.

I'm not far-left, I don't feel exetreme at all, even though the far-right calls me that all the time.

5. Some Of Today's Neo-Cons
Cut their teeth being 60's radical leftists. I sometimes wonder how many of some of the more idealistic (and dare I suggest younger) members here will be in 30 years from now with mortgages, kids, debts, a dead-end job and so on. We used to joke that people became Democrats to join the party...when they could no longer party, they became Repugnicans.

7. If being republicans means supporting these assholes then I can
confidently say it's not gonna happen.

One of my best friends hates 60's hippies for the exact same reason, that they talked a good talk then sold us out. Man she hates hippies.

I grew up to question authority. I questioned those who told me to question.

18. Hippies did not all sell out....
You're thinking of Yippies. (Hippie turned Yuppie)

Unfortunately it seems most Hippies did turn. There are still a few true Hippies left, if you look hard. :)

9. 30 years from now the Bushies
will be so despised for the plunder and damage they are doing to our country that no one will want to be associated with the Republican Party.

12. I've had the same thought myself.
History has a way of uncovering the truth. They will be hated and despised for what they have done and continue to do. All their greed, for what? Maybe they've figured out how to take it with them? What you can buy in hell?

13. Like I said
The truth or falseness of the claims wasn't my point, the point was the left picks its facts too. Everybody spins, too many forget that.

17. In today's America, left of centre = "far left".
The political spectrum in this country has shifted dangerously to the right in the past few decades; you'd be hard-pressed to find a mainstream politician who's not to the right of centre (that includes both Clintons, Dean, et al).

But then I don't see being labelled a "leftist" as a bad thing, and I'm of the opinion that democratic socialism is the best and most workable form of government.

all you say. These are mod issues too. You can be a third wayer and hate Bush and the nefarious GOP machine too. I agree entirely that we should be using the term Liberals.

It includes us all.
