10. Distressed Daydream

I had a daydream during a ten-mile run just before the election that
Bush was going to give a speech and reveal that it was all an
experiment--USAPatriot, 9/11 coverup, media suppression, voting
machines, deficits, Iraq--and he was going to say the fact that America
went along with all this and the Democracts opposed so little of it was
frightening.

He was going to restate for the people the basic American principles and
thank the patriot dissidents who had been standing up for them and
say "shame on you" to those who'd failed to defend them. He was going
to declare himself to be a good old fashioned Eisenhower Republican and
call on all of us to get to work to make the country better.

Of course about mile eight I realized it was only a daydream, but it was
nice while it lasted.
