One good thing about Bernard Goldberg's book,
"One Hundred People Who Are Screwing Up America"...now a good progressive writer can come back and write a book titled, "One Hundred People Who Have Already Screwed Up America". And then give 'em hell. They won't be able to pout and whine about "those liberals writing a nasty book" because they already set a precedent.

Now all we need is someone to write it. Any volunteers?

on this site. A few days ago there was a thread about the "real" 100 people who are messing up our country. It's a great starting point. I'll do a search and try to find the link.

Edit: Here's the link:

It got locked, I'm not sure why. I hope this is okay to post. (Apologies in advance if I've broken a rule--I'm really not trying to cause problems.)

14. the laziest piece of writing i've ever seen
his al franken chapter was pathetic. i thought goldberg would at least attempt to address the critiquiqe al gave him, but instead he just writes a phony interview where al screams 'liar' repetitively

the garofalo quotes are laughable, because anyone who saw the original bits knows they were sarcastic. goldberg prints them as if they were sincere.

the inclusion of paris hilton is funny, too. wasn't rightwing media mogul rupert murdoch who gave her a show in the first place?

goldberg also attacks the left for name-calling. then while criticizing michael savage (one of three conservatives on his list -the others being david duke and roy moore) he lets ann coulter off the hook, stating that her remarks are delivered 'with a twinkle in her eye"

there's nothing new in this book. some chapters are just cut-and-pastes from newsmax. even if i agreed with the guy, i'd be pissed for getting ripped off by such a half-assed 'writing effort'

15. Actually Paris Hilton wasn't included....Her parents were.
I heard Goldberg on Hannity (Who of course loved the book but was upset that Roy Moore was on the list, go figure) say something along the lines that she was just a product of bad parenting and really was insignificant.

What a tool.

25. What, you think "they" care about precedent?
Understand, please, that to anyone who reads and agrees with Goldberg's opinions, it is not "a nasty book", but rather an accurate accounting of the top one hundred liberal offenders. If liberals came up with something directly analogous, it will be still be pouted about and whined at (and panned and denigrated and burned in piles) as "those liberals writing a nasty book."

If you claim precedent, they'll say, "But Goldberg was RIGHT!"

And you'll say, "But that's what you think, I think otherwise. You think this book is nasty, I think Goldberg's book was nasty."

Then they'll tell you that you're what's wrong with America, that your opinions are treasonous, and you shouldn't be allowed to vote. And go right back to pouting and whining about "those liberals writing a nasty book."

33. I will write it...I pulled the lists off this thread
Once upon a time (in the archived thread pointed to up-thread) I noted that it should be a list containing only living neocons, but since we're writing a book now, dead ones who really screwed things up should be included. This means Reagan gets in. It means Nixon gets in.

Also, let's bunch most of the talking heads up into their own chapter. The three major reich-wing talking-head players out there are Limbaugh, Hannity and O'Reilly. If we did the second-stringers like Coulter and Sowell in their own chapters, this shit's gonna get very boring very quickly. But lumping everyone but the top three into one chapter called "The Second Banana Brigade" would give us one short, funny, quick-reading entry.
