2. He's the only one
out of all the candidates who doesn't have a section for Foreign Affairs/Iraq on his site. The are no links to definitive Gephardt statements about Iraq. Really weird. Check it out:

10. Huh?
I actually think this guy has done a great job calling out the Bush Admin lately, especially on Foreign Policy. He called W a miserable failure on the issue and did it quite vocally.

He also has tons of info on his site about this issue and getting after W. I had no problem locating it?

http://www.amiserablefailure.com
http://www.amiserablefailure.com/plugin/template/gephardt/8/155

"It's as if the Bush-Cheney crowd never met an ally they didn't want to turn into an adversary."— Dick Gephardt

"I'm seeking the presidency because foreign policy isn't a John Wayne movie, where we catch the bad guys, hoist a few cold ones and then everything fades to black." — Dick Gephardt

statements on 7/22

Also, union folks, at least this one and most I know, in the privacy of the voting boooth will think to themselves, "Hey. Which one of these guys has led the fight and will continue to stop the mass exodous of jobs from the industrial heartland of this country to China and Mexico." That answer: Dick Gephardt. he's no 'johnny-come-lately' on this issue and we're proud to vote for him. Plus, health care that can nver be taken away even after Clinton and Bush trade policies cause our jobs to go to China is something we like also.

16. he's long had a reputation as an isolationist
Not reallly a surprise that his campaign would emphasize domestic issues, maybe a surprise that it's to that extent.

7. Unfortunately . . .
democrats do have idiots who happen to be our legislative representatives, and Gephardt is one of them. From the time he kissed up to the repugs in supporting the war I decided I would never vote for him. Like Tom Daschle, Gephardt is a Democrat who has lost his bearings, not to mention his moral compass as far as to what being a Democrat means.

5. At our county fair Democratic booth,
all the candidates were supposed to send info, etc. so we can inform people about the cndidates for our EARLY caucus. Gephart was the only one who sent stuff: lavish multi-page color brochures, color pictures with world leaders, contribution envelopes...

Makes you wonder WHO is contributing all that money...

So I snuck in some Kucinich yard signs and bumper stickers and went to the lamb judging and when I came back, they had all been gobbled up by patrons...

6. Sorry Gep
but armed conflict is still going on and almost daily people are being killed. I think it is time he rethinks his position.

11. Ick! Dick has
NEVER shown any real leadership and seems to go with whatever he thinks is the popular idea at the moment. Guess he hasn't gotten the news that the People do NOT favor our regime's foreign policy. I wish he would drop out and focus on getting bond out of the Senate. I think he could win the Senate race in Missouri, he doesn't stand a chance of winning the Democratic nomination. Why doesn't he make himself useful?

12. what
I'm a union man and this guy has been there for me day in and day out. I actually take offense to that "NEVER shown any real leadership and seems to go with whatever he thinks is the popular idea at the moment" comment.

Most in the Democratic Party supported NAFTA and China PNTR. Gep went head to head against Clinton and Gore because he knew those agreements would send our jobs overseas to the lowest bidder. I like all candidates, but I support Gephardt because he's been a leader on issues (bad trade policies) that have been devasting not only to me, but my community and the entire country.

Also, the guy battled the Republican Congress very hard after the revolution.

14. As a union person, you DO have a choice:
KUCINICH, the man who actually marched with the unions in Seattle, who would repeal NAFTA and the WTO first thing after taking office to go back to bi-lateral trade agreements, who most recently refused to go to a million-dollar fund-raiser because the hotel was involved in a labor dispute.

If you agree with Gep on most of the issues, including the go-to-war issue, then by all means go with him.He is good as a union man. If you disagree with Gep on many issues but want to "Union Yes" then you DO have a choice.

15. While he HAS been
good on union issues I don't remember a battle with the rethug Congress and I'm trying really hard to remember. He has always been pretty spineless as an opposition leader as it seems they all have. I do not see him winning the nomination and think he would be more useful getting bond out of the Senate, if he really wants to oppose the repig takeover thats where he should be concentrating his energy. I completely agree with you on the trade issues btw.

17. Gephardt knows the conflict is still going on
I don't remember the "5 months ago" part, but I do remember him mentioning how Iraq is costing us $1 billion a week, in the context of how we need to get help and turn it over to the UN as soon as possible.
