Does anyone know what happened to Tookie Williams?

I searched google but most of the hits were about the movie Redemption. Anyone know what ever happened to him?

2. He is still in jail

I believe on death row in California. He was involved in helped to broker a (sort of) truce between the Crips and the Bloods in the 90's. He also writes books that promote not getting ivolved in gangs.
