5. Their programming, last I checked, didn't follow AAR schedule. |
|
They don't have Randi Rhodes whole show on during her time, and Mike Malloy is replayed late at night. Alan Colmes has his time slot. I didn't change. I also stream now. Sirius supposedly is getting a new lineup on 143. Would like to see who it is before I decide. Unless it takes too long.

|
is Sirius ready so I don't have to install those clunky interfaces. I bought a Sirius only radio because of AAR never thinking they would switch to XM, but I still like the music on Sirius.

34. Not question of XM vs Sirius |
|
Nor is it a question of Ed Schultz and other liberal shows vs AAR. As I posted many times before it is a question of how much Air America listeners will support Air America. Sirius has bet there are no significant consequences for dropping Air America, whereas Air America believed they had loyal listeners that would stand up for them in times of trouble. However, as with many other standoffs, it appears that many previous Air America listeners abandoned Air America in their effort to show the business world they have loyal customers. Many still hide behind the "spin" that XM wanted Air America so much they just had to have exclusive rights and that XM had so many more potential customers it justified deserting the Air America listeners on Sirius - my guess is these same people buy into all the spin they hear that prevents them from making tough choices. People have a choice, they can either show their support for Air America or turn their back on them and pretend all is well. As posted previously, we chose to support Air America and canceled our 3 subscriptions for Sirius as soon as we learned they dropped Air America - it's no secret we signed up with Sirius to get all of Air America ( formerly had XM ) and we made sure the only way we would stay with Sirius is if Sirius paid to keep Air America. I do admit I was and am angry at Air America executives as well but understand they are new at this and were not prepared - they made the foolish mistake of thinking all they had to do was provide good programming and all would work out.

|
radio receiver after the election in november because i could no longer tolerate listening mainstream radio or right winged radio. but now aar is not on sirius radio. i gave the "talk left" channel a try for a few months but it's nothing like aar...so now i need to purchase a xm receiver to listen to aar. aar is great and you are right it is doing well in the rating...sorry for the miscommunication

18. You're not off track, even tho this thread is not an attack thread |
|
there have been many which seem to be attempts to dissuade users from following AAR--not only in their move to XM, but dissuasion about this or that AAR host. I ignore them.

9. I'm happy with XM although I wish they'd correct the aar lineup... |
|
For me, though the around the clock coverage of live 8 (all concerts in each city in full repeated as a mix 24/7 on one channel in July, and as the uninterrupted concert for each city every Monday in August is simply the icing on the cake.
I'm sorry for folks who got burned on Sirius, but I've been very happy with my little walkman-like MYFI XM2GO which I set to tape 3am-7pm Rachael Maddow and Morning Sedition-- so I can listen whenever I please during the day or when out with the dog.
Ome on over to XM...(love love love Sirius' mascot, though!)

so, I'm about to save $50 plus/month by turning that crap box off (never got the premium stations anyway..) I'll feel good doing so too--my little rebellion against the corporate whores who have destroyed what used to pass as news in this country.

15. It's 940 AM on my car radio, nothing has changed with that. |
|
I would cry if I couldn't get it. I love Randi and Ed and Jerry and Al. I usually don't hear the earlier or later shows. I'm not all that crazy about the Ring of Fire show. I know this sounds awful because I think Robert Kennedy Jr. is brilliant, but his voice is so crackly that half the time I can't make out what he is saying. Has he had throat surgery? I know, don't flame me, it's not a negative comment. Just difficult to understand him sometimes.

And this is a fairly small market compared to most of the markets they serve. We don't have all of Randi and no Springer, but that's ok, I prefer Stephanie Miller anyway. AM 1270 in Davenport, IA. Just hope they get some more local advertising though.

24. Interesting question. I don't think I've driven further than that in |
|
either direction since I started listening to that station. I live in Key Largo, and I only drive as far as Miami or Ft. Lauderdale or Key West in the other direction. Anywhere else I fly. But the reception is clear as a bell both ways. I have an Air America Radio 940 AM sign in my rear window to remind progressives or anyone else to tune in.
Well now I feel like a real jerk re. RFK Jr. But it wasn't intended as a mean remark. He really is a wonderful dedicated man. I bet his family is very proud of him.

we could not even GET Sirius due to interference with a powerful religious station that broadcasts on the same call numbers as the one needed to receive Sirius :grr:..
I miss Randi and Janeane, but they were the only ones I luistened to anyway.
The Talk Left on 143-4 is kind of lame, and I hope they "fix" it. Today that Alex guy spent most of his program hyping some comedian guest that I had never heard of.. It was not "liberal radio" it was only "not rightwing" radio.. There's a big difference..
It's like when cspan has right wing fire-breathing guests, who trash democrats for an hour straight and then the token liberal guest is invited to discuss agriculture, or food additives..:eyes:.. Important too, but not "equal time"..
Ed Schultz & Alan Colmes are not "liberal" in the same sense that Hannity and Limbaugh are "conservative"..
We just need parity..that's ALL..
I can get milquetoast middle of the road radio crap all over the dial..what I want is the "antidote" to the evildoer rightwingers:)

His voice is certainly not something that he will ever make a living with. RFK Jr. is a very smart and committed man, but that voice is annoying. So, no flame from me.

I was a STUPID, FUCKING, IDIOT (I admit it!:() and bought 2 Sirius radios and 2 boomboxes. One with a monthly subscription and the other with a LIFETIME subscription :grr::nuke::grr::nuke:....The ONLY reason I bought Sirius in the first place was because of AAR. :grr: I cancelled the monthly subscription and when I did the guy asked me why? and I told him it was because AAR had gone to XM and I bought XM instead. He didn't sound very happy. :) Anyway, I REALLY like Thom Hartman on Sirius and I REALLY, REALLY hate the new AAR schedule/lineup on XM and am HOPING for a change SOON! Alan Colmes SUCKS! And there's NO WAY Ed Schultz should be taking time away from Randi Rhodes. Schultz is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too moderate for this LW radical. Mike Malloy is 100% better than Alan, Faux News lover, Colmes. There's NO WAY IN HELL that Colmes can pull more listeners than Malloy, no way in hell. I'm having a hard time getting use to the XM lineup. :( I just hate it.
I LOVE Majority Report too!
Whatever you do, DO NOT SUBSCRIBE FOR A LIFETIME! You'll get SCREWED!
edited to add: One thing I have found with XM is the satellite is MUCH, MUCH better than Sirius. Sirius satellite would come and go on a daily basis, depending on how many clouds were in the sky. XM hasn't faded ONCE. Not once. That's a big PLUS in my book.

Schultz sucks. I listen fervently to Hartmen and young turks but "Big Ed" is CLEARLY just there for the pay check and not really living the dream, so to speak. I once heard him cut a call dealing with the energy crisis and foreign oil dependency short just to talk about fucking SHARK ATTACKS in Florida. If I wanted to hear that mouthbreather GARBAGE I'd watch cnn for free.

|
I like it better than AAR. I miss Randi Rhodes. But the Sirius DJs are much more radical than the rest of the AAR folks. They also have better guests. I have heard more politicians interviewed on Sirius Left in the past three weeks than I heard in the entire year I had AAR.
