During the campaign, I was constantly surrpounded by like-minded people. We would all share in our frustrations every weekend on the bus from Los Angeles to Las Vegas, working on Clark County (which went Blue!) Many of us have stayed close, having house parties, dinners, going to protests, meetings and teach-ins together. We are all involed with other groups and invite one another to our events.

I love coming to DU. Of the 75,000+ registered users, even if 5,000 or so are freeper or freeper sympathizers and maybe 20,000+ sign up but never return or rarely post, that still leaves approximately 50,000 that share in my feelings here at DU. Every time I'm here, I see a new poster with over 1,000 posts.

I live in a very bue city, in a very blue county and a blue state. I know when I walk around town, the overwhelming majority of people agree with me. I see more liberal stickers on cars and still in the windows of resident's... with only the occassional "enemy" sticker. I know when we go to certain theaters that play liberal documentaries, most people in there agree with me. I know when I go to trader Joe's and see all the liberal stickers on the cars, most people in there agree with me. And in my very blue profession, I can't think of one co-worker who disagrees with me.

I love to read through our books... Clinton's bio, America; The Book, etc. and remember that there are so many other people right now who share in my struggle.

I know who our liberal entertainers are, and when I watch their films or tv shows, it's nice to look at someone and think... "they, too, are struggling with what is happening to this country."

Does anyone else ever feel alone? Even if you know 80% of the globe polled by Gallup share in our utter astonishment of this insanity, it is so easy to feel completly overwhelmed by their hatred.

1. I know exactly how you feel!
I live in Boston, and work at a University (I am the problem Rush, come and get me).

When you travel out of your blue world, into the rest of the country, you see how easily led some people are.

In Co Spings July 04, '04 for brother-in-law's wedding. The "good ole' red, white & blue" and "our pResident, no matter what" attitude made me ill. Feel bad for ya.

edited for spelling.

10. I live in Oklahoma,
a red state, & I feel very alone in my political views. A guy at work made a few disparaging remarks about me around the election in reference to my Kerry-Edwards bumper sticker. Following the election, my supervisor chose a weekly office meeting to extol the virtues of the Republican party & demean clinton because of his indiscretions. :puke:

Needless to say, DU is very important to me.

Yikes. The scenery is beautiful, but, the majority of the inhabitants ... wow.

13. Hell, I am pretty much alone.
Red county; blue me. I hardly ever associate with anyone blue IRL. It's very easy to forget that the right wing really is in the minority, globally speaking.

14. You know where I really feel alone?
Being the really politically aware one in the crowd. The majority of people I know--though liberal-minded, don't give a rat's ass about politics.

That's how we're getting screwed, when you get down to it. The "why bother?" effect.

15. and the rw stays focussed and on track

because they have their own bigotry and willingness to be led by their fascist party, rw radio pounding in the propaganda during their long commutes to the exurbs, their preachers pounding in the propaganda in their mega-churches on sundays, .

when you have no conscience, no scruples, it's easy to do anything in your lust for power.

16. I feel like I'm in a bubble here in Seattle.
It's not hard to find like-minded folks here - but - the moment you step foot outside Seattle - watch out. I do a fair amount of hiking and one has to travel through some of the little mountain towns, only an hour away, to get to the trailhead. I feel uncomfortable just stopping to get gas. And then my family is up in the backwoods of U.P. Michigan, now THAT'S scary.
