"Bush Reportedly to Appoint Bolton Today" (May this sink them both)
WASHINGTON (AP) - Frustrated by Democrats, President Bush will circumvent the Senate on Monday and install embattled nominee John Bolton to be ambassador to the United Nations, a senior administration official said.

Bush has the power to fill vacancies without Senate approval while Congress is in recess. Under the Constitution, a recess appointment during the lawmakers' August break would last until the next session of Congress, which begins in January 2007.

In advance of Bush's announcement, Democrats said Bolton would start his new job on the wrong foot in a recess appointment.

"He's damaged goods. This is a person who lacks credibility," Sen. Christopher Dodd of Connecticut, a senior Democrat on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, said on "Fox News Sunday." Bush, he said, should think again before using a recess appointment to place Bolton at the United Nations while the Senate is on its traditional August break.

3. I don't know
Maybe they are planning on things being too busy in January for them to deal with Bolton? Or they think Bolton will do such a super fantastic job that nobody would dare to vote against him in January?

4. AAAMazing.
Bolton goes to the UN treats, everyone as if they were mere minions of the United States.

Great, as if the world did not have enough problems. The United States has a bulldog in the UN who claims to know how to make the UN more effective (for whom?). Sure, changes need to be made, but not with a human bulldozer.

It will be WORSE.

Freepers - are you happy that the US is going down the toilet??

Yes, it is!!!

5. If only
There was a way to convince the UN to take some sort of vote that would force Bolton to have to wear a little paper trainee hat while doing his job.

6. Yes! Recess Appoint Bolton! (seriously)
There is no way that cromagnun crackhead is going to be able to keep his ego in check until Congress is back in session. Ol' Busselbritches is going to act like the flaming horse's ass that everyone knows he is, the entire rest of the UN is going to refuse to work with the prick, and Congress is going to cast him aside like so much political canon fodder.

11. no, no, just wait, the 'compromise" will save us, really!
removing the nuclear option is in our best interests. By doing so, we prevent them from installing by recess appointment the most despicable people since we compro....er.....oh., wait.

9. Bush must be desperate for cover
and wanting to protect (and reward) his loyal buds like Bolton. Bolton needs to stay on the grounds of the UN and not step out for lunch on US soil...the Feds will be there to greet him with an arrest warrant and handcuffs ala Plame co-conspirator.

13. Wow, I knew Bush was going to do this, but jeez he sure as hell didn't
didn't waste any time in shooting the whole world the finger on his way to Crawford and his annual month long working vacation.

The arrogance of this gang knows no bounds.

What do we do now?
