If it's so damn easy to make a recess appointment . . . |
|
what's to stop this wannabe dictator from making all of his future appointments this way?? There HAS to be consequences, and yet, I still don't see any coming.

I'm already embarrassed by this. Can you imagine the message it is sending to the international community? Oh wait, we don't care about them do we? :sarcasm:

3. It's a tough way to do business |

You only get the appointment for a limited period of time and then you have to start the process all over again.

4. House Republicans and the idea of losing the House in 2006 |
|
With a forty-something approval rating, the nation will understand that Bush is doing something very wrong with bypassing the advise and consent powers of Congress.... if he were to start recess appointments on a regular basis, the overriding theme of "we need to put a check on Bush's abuse of power" would be the backdrop of every House election in 2006. That is not what House Republicans or Bush wants to run on.

7. But since they can steal any election they want in Diebold states... |
|
they care less and less how things play out politically.

9. not *any* election... it has to be within a *certain* percentage. |
|
like if the race was within the MOE of the last poll.

11. I am been giving that a lot of thought. |
|
Have they laid the groundwork for exit polls and polls in general to be brushed aside as a load of hooey? We've already seen the phenomenal job they have done to marginalize science. Mathematics can only be a step behind.
I hate to admit I've been giving this line of thought some time, but what if they have gotten to the point where they control the polling companies and/or the dissemination of the polling results?
Even if the polls are released untampered, what kind of variation do we have to see before people wake up and take to the streets? Just outside the MOE, 5%, 10%, 20%?

12. they were tampering with the exit polls from the outset |
|
The only "holes" they left gaping were statistical anomalies.

I know the numbers were "corrected" on the fly 11/02/04.

8. I think they are beyond caring what they have to run on. |

They know that no matter what the votes are going in to the machines, they will get the majority of votes coming out.

You're right.
Anyone remember Wally O'Dell from the election.
Wally O'Dell makes electronic voting machines.
Wally O'Dell, CEO of Diebold, and big-time neocon, pledged at a GOP fundraiser that he would do all he could to help deliver Ohios' delegates to George W. Bush.
It looks like he succeeded.
Interesting that the software and firmware that runs electronic voting machines is propriatary. The Unites States Government has no idea how they work.
Neocons manufacturing electronic voting machines. surrrrreee....
