1. Maybe the press, having gotten a taste of Rove blood, is
now addicted and cannot wait for Bolton to be bitch-slapped into the middle of next week by the rest of the UN delegates and to uncover his secret sex life.

The prospect of never-ending scandals from Bolton may have them giddy.

I hope.

6. leveymg...
is there any way to start a campaign to the UN countries so that they will not accept Bolton? Do you know who we would contact?

UN Credentials Committee Can Reject Bolton

The UN doesn’t have to accept John Bolton’s credentials. This may come as a rude surprise to George W. Bush, who this morning appointed Bolton U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, despite his rejection several weeks ago by the Senate. The unintended consequence of Bolton’s appointment, which is creating a lightning rod at the UN for resentment, anger and fear of Bush Administration foreign policy, is a possible move by the General Assembly to limit U.S. actions in the Middle East and Persian Gulf.

It is likely that one or more General Assembly member states will challenge Bolton’s credentials. In that case, under Articles 27-29, he will be seated provisionally until the nine members of the Credentials Committee can vote on the question. (See an introduction to the Credentials Committee responsibilities here, and the UN General Assembly Rules of Procedure here(pdf file).)

The members of the Credentials Committee appointed at the 59th session are:

Benin
Bhutan
China
Ghana
Liechtenstein
Russian Federation
Trinidad and Tobago
United States
Uruguay

Most can be contacted on-line or call UN information in NYC.

Thanks - Mark

5. This is absurd.
Bolton goes to the UN, acts stupid, alienates 190 countries.

Bush is amazing.

For all you Freepers, please tell me this guy is not going to make Bush look even more infantile.

7. CNN is having a Bolton love fest too
I CANNOT BELIEVE the puff piece that Andrea Koppel just did about John Bolton on CNN. She interviewed Bolton's old classmates who spoke about how affable and hard-working he was. Koppel even talked about John Bolton's "blue collar" work ethic. The theme was "the man behind the mustache", with photos of Bolton without a mustache during his youth. There were interviews with others commenting on the way Bolton went up the ladder through hard work and brilliant scholarship, stating that it's the way Republicans tend to be rewarded for individual effort (supposedly unlike Democrats). There were even statements about the fact Bolton did not have a bad temper. There was NOT ONE single contrarian point of view. There was not one witness interviewed on Bolton's abusive behavior. CNN has now become FAR, FAR, FAR WORSE than Faux. Faux's talking heads simply tell you point blank they love Bush and conservatism. CNN reporters do it not by stating their own views, but by only allowing certain witnesses and certain facts to be stated, but not the full picture.
