THE BOY KING IS RIGHT: The Unassailable Integrity of The Human Mustache!
Edited on Mon Aug-01-05 02:18 PM by smartvoter
http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2005/04/25/politics/main690612.shtml

snip:

"Former Secretary of State Colin Powell has expressed reservations about President Bush's embattled nominee for United Nations ambassador in conversations with two key GOP senators, according to published reports."

snip:

"The episode revolves around a speech Bolton gave in South Korea in the summer of 2003, in which he said, "For many in North Korea, life is a hellish nightmare."

When asked about the hard-line speech, Bolton said Ambassador Thomas Hubbard had approved it.

"I can tell you what our ambassador to South Korea, Tom Hubbard, said after the speech. He said, "Thanks a lot for that speech, John. It'll help us a lot out here.'"

That's not what Hubbard says. In fact, the ambassador told CBS News that he specifically objected to the tone of the speech and actually found it unhelpful in dealing with North Korea.

"I told the committee that if you're basing your vote on his (Bolton's) assertion that I approved his speech, that is not true," Hubbard said.

And there's more. Hubbard also told CBS News about Bolton's explosive temper, recalling how Bolton slammed the phone down after learning he couldn't get a meeting he wanted. Then Bolton backed out of a dinner in his honor that night.

"The temperament was on display," the ambassador said."

1. Another:
http://www.salon.com/opinion/blumenthal/2005/03/10/john_bolton/index_np.html

snip:
John Bolton, a man who doesn't believe in diplomacy and thinks the United States should be the only permanent member of the U.N. Security Council, gets yet another chance to wield his stick.

snip:
Now Bolton, who as undersecretary of state for arms control has wrecked all the nonproliferation diplomacy within his reach and alienated every nation he has dealt with, who openly disdains multilateral efforts and international organizations, and who has been the single most dedicated person over two decades of attempts to discredit the United Nations, has been named by President Bush as the U.S. ambassador to the U.N. "If I were redoing the Security Council today, I'd have one permanent member because that's the real reflection of the distribution of power in the world," Bolton has said. And: "There is no such thing as the United Nations." Orwell's clock of "1984" is striking 13.

changing the landscape. He literally uses loopholes or tries to change the system to get what he wants.

Will Dems do it when they gain power? Won't they have to in order to balance things out? Don't games like these just lead to a permanent undermining of our democracy?

4. The entire point of Bush's presidency
is to make sure the dems never do gain power, or when they do, it's too late to change anything.

Even asssuming that somehow the elections cause the elected officials to change hands, despite Diebold and Fox and a government of duplicitous manipulation and orangy alerts, for the most part the pubs have looted our future.

The dems can't get the giveaways in tax cuts back, can't get the Iraq invasion back, can't even withdraw immediately.

Can't have a multilateral policy when every nation's people hates us.

Every day action on the environment is put off is a road built, forest logged, species harvested, and a dollar in someone's pocket. Can't take those back.

50 year old supreme court nominees. Can't take them back.

5. Yes. They have gone so far with so much and have done it
so unethically that the damage cannot be fully undone in any situation.
