Dumped XM Radio today
Still spitting mad at them...

Was a subscriber for 2+ years. Decided that I wanted to get a new car, and turned off my service in March. As it turned out, I never did trade in my car, so in late May I called to have it reactivated.

My June bill came and they charged me for the months that I had it turned off, (as well as an activation fee and a month in advance.)
When I called them, they could not understand (as in intellectually challenged rep) what my issue was.

I asked to talk with a manager, and after 10 mins, she came back and said that there wasn't one available, and someone would call me. They never did.

Since my bill posts to my AMEX, I called them and had them remove the disputed amount.

Well this month's bill comes and the statement shows the entire amount returned to them (AMEX only did a partial...I verified it.)
So now they have screwed up my credit card accounting too.

So I decide to give them one more chance. Still they can't get the chronology right. In total and absolute frustration, I told them to cancel...and tell me what I owe to this day. Although it includes the two months disputed amount I am going to pay it and be rid of these total incompetents. JEesh.

2. don't give up.
file a small claims suit in your area. I'm sure that will wake someone up and get it fixed for you.

9. DO NOT PAY -- listen to me:
I had major problems with my cell phone company (Cingular) about a bill -- to make a long story short, they shut off my phone. :argh:

I called the California Public Utilities Commission (I obviously live in Calif.) and honest to god, in three minutes, they had me on a conference call with Cingular's executive office......the problem was corrected....and everything is great. I am so grateful to the PUC.

Don't know where you live, but there must be a utilities commission in your state!!

Don't let them screw you over!! Good luck!! :bounce:

12. I wish I had known about this when my cell phone company screwed
me over.

Moved from Chicago to WI. Wanted to keep the same number and did--but it wouldn't work in my home. Called US Cellular, after about four months of paying a bill and not using the phone and asked them to do something. They tell me they don't guarantee that their phones will work (!!!!!) Then they say the only fix is to change my number which was not something I was told when I signed a two year contract.

Long story a bit shorter...I had two phone lines, and paid $300+ to cancel my contract and be rid of their sorry asses. I was a customer for more than 5 years--and they didn't care. They treated me like a scam artist trying to cheat them somehow.

Customer service seems to have gone by the wayside along with our democracy.

10. No problem for me
I had a billing issue with XM but it was taken care of quickly and courteously. AM/FM Radio sucks and for me this was a great investment.
Maybe try again.

11. I've only had good experiences with them two and I have two
XM radios. But Your response is only obviously as good as the customer rep you get. Try and find out when a customer service manager will be in and try and get a name. Maybe go through their direct (not 1-800) number and their corporate offices instead to get to a CSM?

13. Wireless Internet & Podcasting Are On The Way
These are radios that pick up Internet audio streams using Wi-Fi and other wide area networks. I have the Linksys Media link that let's me pop on a ton of stations...KGO, all the Pacifica stations and a couple AAR affiliates using a wireless router...or on a bigger system. IPODs are already set up to connect for live audio and a new generation of cellphones, PDAs and other wireless internet radios (including car radios) are on the way.
