Challenger for Iowa's Leach (R)
It looks like David Loebsack will be running against Jim Leach in Iowa's 2nd Congressional district in 2006; below is his website. I believe he will be making an official announcement in the coming weeks. I'm sure support would be greatly appreciated!

http://www.loebsackforcongress.org

Recent Leach votes:
(thanks to rurallib)
- He voted in favor of the energy bill that has tons of giveaways for the oil companies so they won't go broke.
- He voted in favor of a bill "reducing the excessive burden the liability system places on the health care delivery system" (limit law suit liability?)
- And he tops it off by being the deciding vote for CAFTA!!!

thx - cs

1. Good luck to Loebsack
He's going to need it, although the second district of Iowa is fairly liberal(think Iowa City and Uof I). Leach was formerly the first district repsentative for many years and when he moved to allow nussle to take this district, he (Leach) lost respect from me.

2. Cross-post to Iowa forum
Thank you for the heads up. Can this be cross-posted to the Iowa forum for those in Iowa who may not be online now?

He looks like a great candidate. Let's make sure we fund his race against Leach. It is time the district has a congressperson who represents the values of the district, not the republican party.

3. Hope he's running - he'll need a lot of publicity to overcome
Leach's undeserved image.
I've heard Loebsack speak and he sounds like a person well grounded in what the people of the district believe, not what the pResident wants.
Let's hope he goes for it!
