5. September 30th is the target day for 1st session to end
Edited on Mon Aug-01-05 07:38 PM by Solly Mack
they reconvene from summer break on Sept. 6th...and work 'til the 30th of Sept.

http://66.102.9.104/search?q=cache:bm8UNP88U-0J:www.abanet.org/poladv/letter/05feb/109thcongress.pdf+109th+congress+schedule&hl=en

Then they come back in Jan for the 2nd session, which ends in the fall. But Bolton stays until 2nd session ends (Fall of 2006) and after break/holidays are over (into 2007)

The start of a new Congress is set at 12Noon on January 3 of each odd numbered year (unless changed by law) following a general election and each new Congress is composed of two sessions. The first session of the 109th US Congress officially convened on January 4, 2005 and will run until January of 2006, when the second session convenes and the 109 th Congress officially adjourns in the late fall of 2006.

Bolton stays until 2007.(at least)

6. The next session is the 6th and ends the 30th? So why 2007?
Doesn't Bolton only get two months?

7. No. Sorry about that....I should have fixed that

This session (109th, 1st session) ends on Sept. 30th, recovenes in Jan (109th, 2nd session), and runs until fall 2006....but Bolton stays until Jan 2007, when the 110th Congress starts

The 6th is when they return from summer break ( the current recess)

8. Okay, but still it is the end of the next session right?
Edited on Mon Aug-01-05 09:51 PM by Massacure
So wouldn't he be kicked out in the fall of 2006, then need ANOTHER recess appointment? :puke:

9. Bolton gets the rest of this session and all of the next session
Edited on Mon Aug-01-05 10:07 PM by Solly Mack
that's why it's 2007. The 109th Congress will adjourn in the fall of 2006but officially ends in early Jan 2007 (then the 110th Congress comes in around mid-Jan) - Bush has 40 days, if I recall correctly,(once the 110th is in place) to name a new nominee or re-nominate Bolton once his recess term is up

So, yes, it's the end of next session...'cause Bolton's recess term won't be up until the 110th Congress is seated more or less

11. Yes - even though they will be adjourned and the 110th takes over
in Jan, it's still the 2nd session of the 109th Congress during the Christmas holidays, 2006.

Yeah, it sucks.
