and that's fine if he doesn't think it's cost effective. But someone must be doing some polls. Anyone know of the most recent poll results for this race? We've got to have a benchmark of some kind, otherwise how can we prove fraud? We won't even know if the "results" are realistic or not.

2. That's A Good Question...
I was hoping there'd be some weekend polling by one of the Cincinnati papers or TV stations.

Hopefully the donations many of us have made to Paul Hackett and VoteBlue (please tip them...i gave them a 50% tip when I donated to Hackett) will have hundreds of "boots on the ground" tomorrow so we can find out how the voting is going.

An interesting theory I heard was that the Ohio GOOP might be willing to lose this seat just to shut up other Diebold questions. Schmidt is an embarassing candidate...the only reason she would win is strictly by other party-line kool-aid drinkers. She's tainted in the Noe scandal as well, plus there are supporters of other Repugnican candidates who lost in the primary who might be awfully happy to see Ms. Schmidt go down so it clears the field for them for next year.

3. I don't think letting Hackett win this is the GOP's plan.
GOP Says It Will 'Bury' Name-Calling Candidate

By Dan Balz

Sunday, July 31, 2005; Page A05

-snip-
Hackett told USA Today that Bush's taunting line, "Bring 'em on!" was "the most incredibly stupid comment I've ever heard a president of the United States make." He also told the newspaper that, while he was willing to put his life on the line for the president, "I've said that I don't like the son-of-a- that lives in the White House."

Both the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and the National Republican Congressional Committee have bought TV time for commercials over the weekend. "He called the commander in chief a son-of-a-," said NRCC spokesman Carl Forti. "We decided to bury him."

4. That's The National Spin...
This was from some folks inside Ohio. They were refering to Blackwell and other Ohio Repugnicans who don't like Schmidt and wouldn't mind seeing her thrown overboard or used as a scapegoat in the Noe scandal and takes the heat off of them

Also, by a Democrat winning in such a "crimson" district, this would be used to proved that there was never any voting fraud in Ohio, and the corporate media will go right along with this meme. The seat isn't that important and they feel that even if Hackett wins, he'll be an easy mark for another Repugnican next year.

It's the national party that's all juiced up. A week ago, Schmidt's campaign was 60k in the hole...it's been national money that's been flooding in.

7. Well, I hope they do it. I don't think it will prove anything with
regards to the 2004 election and it shouldn't take the heat off the Ohio GOP.

8. Agreed...Just Showing How Nervous They Are
The Noe scandal seems to have the Ohio Repugnicans starting to do the circular firing squad routine...thus why I passed that tidbit along. Just the fact something like this is being bantered about says either there's a good alibi being cooked up in case of losing...or more good old Repugnican plausible deniability.

No it won't prove a damn thing about 2004 since the one of the districts that had zero Diebold problems were the ones in the 2nd district. You better believe those votes were counted (and probably twice). Wasn't it in Hamilton County that a machine overvoted big time for meeester boosh?

Cheers...

10. Hackett mentioned this article on Shultz
He said his daughter asked him "Daddy, if you just came back from Iraq why would the President want to bury you?"

Another fine example of how The Bush administration supports the troops. What do you fucking freepers have to say about this? Lemme guess, he didn't really serve, or he didn't really earn his medals, or, he's a Liberal. I guess only Republican soldiers are worthy of honor. :eyes:
