Gay Baiting * Praises Homophobic BSA For Knowing Right & Wrong
Bush Praises Scouts in Speech at Jamboree

By MATTHEW L. WALD
Published: August 1, 2005
FORT A.P. HILL, Va., July 31 - President Bush drew cheers on Sunday from a crowd of tens of thousands of Boy Scouts and their parents with talk about patriotism, morals and the role of their organization in creating leaders.

Mr. Bush, in a 17-minute speech, introduced himself as a former Cub Scout from Midland, Tex., and said his mother had been his scout leader "about the time her hair turned white." The president said that several senior members of his administration had been scouts - Andrew H. Card Jr., his chief of staff; Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld; and Vice President Dick Cheney.

"Through the generations, scouts have made America a stronger and better nation," Mr. Bush proclaimed.

"But remember, lives of purpose are constructed on conviction that there is right and there is wrong, and we can know the difference," he said.

1. Said by a man who doesn't know the difference...
or chooses to do wrong.

2. Maybe it was just me, but the adult Scoutmasters always creeped me.
Grown men in shorts and knee socks hanging out with adolescent boys.

I mean, the ones who were parents of kids in the troop...that's understandable. But the ones who had been Scoutmasters for like 30 years and weren't married and didn't have kids...I always wondered.

Between the Catholic Church and Boy Scouts...isn't it weird how the organizations that most openly hate gays seems to always attract the child molesters?

"...openly hate gays seems to always attract the child molesters?"

Gays have nothing to do with child molestors. They are two totally different subjects. Most child molestors are not gay. They are usually heterosexual, white men who enjoy exerting power and control over children. However, most homophobic organizations like to paint gays as child molestors.

7. I wasn't correlating gays with child molesters...
I was merely saying that organizations that hate gays tend to attract child molesters. I think it has something to do with compensating for denial.

3. FYI: The BSA's Position Paper on Hating Gays
In Support of Diversity

More than 90 years ago, the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) was founded on the premise of teaching boys moral and ethical values through an outdoor program that challenges them and teaches them respect for nature, one another, and themselves. Scouting has always represented the best in community, leadership, and service.

The Boy Scouts of America has selected its leaders using the highest standards because strong leaders and positive role models are so important to the healthy development of youth. Today, the organization still stands firm that their leaders exemplify the values outlined in the Scout Oath and Law.

On June 28, 2000, the United States Supreme Court reaffirmed the Boy Scouts of America's standing as a private organization with the right to set its own membership and leadership standards.

The BSA respects the rights of people and groups who hold values that differ from those encompassed in the Scout Oath and Law, and the BSA makes no effort to deny the rights of those whose views differ to hold their attitudes or opinions.

Scouts come from all walks of life and are exposed to diversity in Scouting that they may not otherwise experience. The Boy Scouts of America aims to allow youth to live and learn as children and enjoy Scouting without immersing them in the politics of the day.

We hope that our supporters will continue to value the Boy Scouts of America's respect for diversity and the positive impact Scouting has on young people's lives. We realize that not every individual nor organization subscribes to the same beliefs that the BSA does, but we hope that all Americans can be as respectful of our beliefs as we are of theirs and support the overall good Scouting does in American communities.

And, just in case you have a hard time understanding their definition of honoring diversity, here's the CNN story on their gay hate that was supprted by the SCOTUS on 6/28/2000:

Supreme Court says Boy Scouts can bar gay troop leaders

June 28, 2000

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- The Supreme Court ruled Wednesday that the Boy Scouts of America can bar homosexuals from being troop leaders.

The justices by a 5-4 vote overturned a New Jersey Supreme Court ruling that the dismissal of a gay Scout leader had been illegal under the state's anti-discrimination law.

The Boy Scouts, which also exclude atheists and agnostics as leaders, said it has the right to decide who can join its ranks.

Forcing it to accept gays would violate its constitutional right of freedom of association and free speech under the First Amendment, it said.

6. Living in the woods with no running water for a week is okay...
...but being gay is dirty. There's logic for you.

I'm not gay, but I don't want my son anywhere near such intolerance.

8. As is being an atheist or agnostic in BSA world.
Much better to have a god-fearin' child-molesting scout leader on hand to lead the prayers around the campfires than an atheist or agnostic.

9. Look in the mirror George
You're guilty of all the seven deadly sins of a religion you claim to believe in. I can't stand the hypocriacy of it all! While he's praising someone else he's off killing thousands of innocents. I hope that every night he is haunted. Of course who am I kidding? You have to have a soul first.

11. Must be a different BSA
I met many scouts who learned about their "gayness" first in the
boy scouts, who used the opportunity of the camp-out for early
sexual experiences.

Bush clearly knows a moral organization. Perhaps the BSA can include
a "Gay Sexual Activities" merit badge and make it mandatory for "first class"
instead of "citizenship in the community".

Or rather they can split off and form the "Bush Gay Scouts of America"
BGSA.. or just the GSA... and they could train young gay kids from
age 12 on, how to dress well and have colour taste. :-)

What a role model indeed.
