Is Randi losing her mind?
I love Randi and listen to her everyday. But why is she tearing into this guy? From what Ive heard, Gore's new channel kinda sucks (I haven't seen it.) Are we not allowes to criticize? From what I understand, this really isn't that intersting. And I've also read a lot of people really miss News World Internation, the channel it replaced. I didn't think this guy was so out of line. Am I completly off base?

Anyone here seen Current? Tell me what you think.

1. Randi has bad days too.
Sometimes I just can't listen to her. It's like she's on the - oh, nevermind, that wasn't funny. You know what I mean...

2. Here's what I think her point was...
I think she was trying to explain to the caller that the Current network is not a "news" channel.

The caller seemed to be complaining about the quality of programming and lack of "real" news.

Randy was making the point that Current is not a news network. They will have some news items and programming built in, but it is not a news network exclusively.

3. I hate snap judgments!
If it debuted today, I think people ought to give it more than one day to decide if it's good, bad or irrelevant.

4. Haven't seen Current, but
I think Randi is one of those people who hates to criticize any member of the Democratic Party.

Admittedly, that's comforting on some days when you just want to put the blame on "them, them, them," (how do you think Limbaugh got such a big following?) but other times, it seems to hinder any sort of progress.

Takes all kinds, I suppose. I can take Randi better on some days than others...

5. watched a little today.... saw a good feature on a guy
who was shot while filming the economic summit protests in Miami in 2003. Not much of a sample, but there it is.

6. Heard this earlier today
Couldn't believe how she was tearing into the poor guy.
And she hadn't even seen Current TV yet.
If she's in the mood to chew people up that badly I wish she would spend that time on taking calls from the enemy.

7. She did slam him unjustifiably,
I love Randi's show even with the warts, and here was a good example of a warty spot. :)

Apparently if you dont like Current.tv you are a malcontent who likes to crap on everything. He was patient, and made his points well, IMO.

I miss having the NWI,in a more utopian world we'd have more access to more media, but heck the market rules and NWI failed to make enough money to stay in business. I grok that argument. But, I hardly think Randi's caller Floyd was a "malcontent". That being said, everyone has down moments, and that was particularly snappy of her to assume he hated Gore, or was looking for a reason to hate what he was doing.

I saw a really good segment (I cant call the segments pods) on the FTA protest, scary looking goons in riot gear shooting a filmmaker in Miami.

If it opens eyes to people who never see this kind of thing, thats great. It's still early, they need more content, Ive seen a few segments 3x already.

9. Why did she call him a liar ?
I think she just makes too many snap judgments, she wasn't listening to what he was saying. I just had to turn her off.

10. I heard that exchange
and I didn't think she was 'slamming' this guy.He was annoying in his blame of Al Gore.Randi just try to explain to him that it was NOT intended as a news channel, but a place for young people to show off their own stuff with degments of real news in between.I thought she was quite patient with him.He just didn't seem to get it or maybe he just wanted to 'slam' Al Gore. That's my take on it.

11. In the interest of giving the last legally elected U.S. president a few
...days to get things smoothed out at Current, we might want to withhold our critiques of his new network. But I have to agree that Randi goes somewhat postal, at times.

12. I watched a few segments online:
They were very interesting - I think, if our cable company offered here, I'd probably be inclined to watch it. It sounds like a pretty good concept of having much of the content produced by the audience rather then the network, there is less of an opportunity to lose interest.

I'm not sure how it plays out on tv, but the clips I saw were good.

13. How many day(s) has the channel been on the air?
Is this all being based on 1 or 2 days being on the air? Looked pretty good to me. I saw a piece on base jumping that was good. It sounds like people might have expected this to be a Democratic political channel or something. Who knows?

14. I like Randi's points, but.....
I don't like that she cuts callers off and finishes their sentences for them, even when they have a very valid point to make. I know it's her show and while I like her for her politics and I respect her brusque style, sometimes she seems to steamroll ahead with her monologue, at the exclusion of any sort of dialog.

She really annoyed me one day when a pilot called in to talk about the timing and orders on 911 and how what we've been told is inconsistent with air speed, fly techniques, etc. She cut him off and joked about how she has always been a sucker for pilots and "we" know that we were lied to, but after she cut him off, she didn't offer any new information. He was in agreement with her point and he actually had some expertise to offer about the topic, yet she completely cut him off.
:wtf:

I still like Randi and I listen when I can, but sometimes I think her mouth outruns her brain.
