"You can't handle the truth"
If truth is merely subjective,in that one person can automatically decide here who is lying, then why do we bother?
If a person cannot come here and tell a truth--that some do not like--without being called a freeper, a liar, or even worse, then why do we exist?
Truth is not partisan. If we can't handle hearing the truth about ALL subjects...then we aren't any better than Republicans.
But truly...who "gets" to decide what the truth is on this website?
I always thought DU had their finger on the pulse of things, but if that finger is ONLY on the pulse of what YOU deem worthy and what YOU deem to be true--and not all things--then it's not an accurate assessment of the what is going on in the country.

2. The truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.
It should be our survival kit.

3. Context would be helpful for those of us who have no idea what
you are referring to specifically.

By the way, facts may be facts, but what is regarded as 'truth' may be, like beauty, in the eye of the beholder. Now capital T Truth, that may be yet another matter but I don't sense that is where you are headed.

4. It doesn't matter
I don't want a flame fest. Just pointing out that if someone says something is the truth and they have never given me reason to doubt, then I generally regard it as the truth without any specific knowledge that it is not.

6. "truth" by what standard?
not that truth is variable, but rather that in some matters, the "truth" may not be readily recognized by all.

or the conditions presupposing the "truth" may not be fully agreed upon.

In my experience, politics is grounded in basic, indisputable truth, but the day-to-day events and issues seldom are, at least without fairly considerable deconstructional analysis.

recent human events seem to call into question whether truthfulness is even relevant.

there certainly is no justice, not even the vague attempt at justice. So why should truth matter?
