Many of my friends are proud 'Army Brats.' I, on the other hand, like to call myself a 'Political Brat.'
As far back as I can remember, my family has always taken me to the funraiser picnic the local Democratic Party has every fall. One year, my father became the commishioner of the Democratic Party of my community. He would take me along with him to endorsements. As the candidates handed out information on their stances on the issues, they gave me candy and other goodies.
As elections approched, our yard was always filled with signs. Sometimes, my parents and I would meet with a local candidate and go door to door with information. On election night, I'd stay up and watch to see if the people I liked won.
I turned 18 last November (missing election day, sadly). Unlike many people my age, I voted for the first time this May. Unlike many voters of all ages, I actually knew who and what I was voting for.
I guess I'm just a Political Brat.

2. I think I'm raising one. |

Last year, she fell asleep watching the DNC and when I picked her up to take her to bed, she woke up and started complaining that she didn't get to see the state roll call. LOL!
She's gone to meetups, Dem booths at county fairs, rallies, protests, gone with me to the voting booth many many times.
I had to promise her than in the 2012 election, she can do much more than she's ever done (she'll be 17), including possibly traveling with us to a swing state during the primary season.
Congrats on your political awareness, it's a great thing, isn't it?

You are now a REAL PATRIOT!! Study the issues, understand the consequences of all that can happen, and PASS IT ON!!
My two kids are political brats also. Have been since they knew how to talk and listen, just like their old man.
They are 29 and 25 now, the 25 year old being a Christian, Democrat, Southern Baptist minister in TEXAS, and I am very proud of them both!
